I had back pain for a few days and have kept active and did exercises. Woke up this morning feeling fine but bit stiff then after about an hour I developed a really intense pain down my leg which is really uncomfortable and mega painful can feel that it is coming from top of my bum lower back to left yet pain past few days was on other side. I'm 10 weeks pregnant can't take anything other than paracetamol can I? HelP, what else can I do? Will it go away before tomorrow.

Hi sweetiepie, sorry you're in pain! I had something very similar at about 13 weeks which culminated in about 18 hours of barely being able to walk - but it did pass! My dr told me that it is safe to take codeine in early pregnancy, but best to get it prescribed as everyone is different.

Also, make sure that you have done everything possible to make your bed comfy and take pressure off the nerve. I splashed out on a memory foam topper for our mattress - has revolutionised comfort levels! In the meantime.... hot water bottle? Good luck and hope it passes soon.

I had sciatica all through my first pregnancy and right at the end (typically!) went for a reflexology session and have never suffered since!! It really was truly amazing, especially as I have always been sceptical about alternative therapies I really would recommend it

Oh ok I'll def give that A go. Had app with physio bless him he can to house, he found me a comfy position to lie in. Gp has written a prescription for co-codamol hope it doesn't bother baby too much I've got to take something stronger than paracetamol to get mobile.
