Pâté (liver I assume) at 11 weeks - how worried should I be....

Usual pregnancy panic (despite this being DC2). Had a work function today and had pâté (quite a large portion) as starter as part of set menu (no choice). Truth be told, I had forgotten the problem.

I'm 11.3 weeks and am sure I've had no other vit A (or E... Mind blank).....The NHS site tells me nothing specific. Does anyone know the extent it's likely to be a problem? I haven't been struck with listeria, but what would get amount of vit E/A do?

Panic, panic...

I wouldn't worry at all. I ate shed loads of (homemade) chicken liver pate before realising I was pregnant and things seem ok so far (am 37wks). Also, the Vit A thing is completely overblown and, some would say erroneous - specially if consumed via actual food rather than supplements. In general, I believe sticking to the usual non-preg guidelines for how much liver one should eat (i.e. no more than an approx 150g portion a week) would also be fine during pregnancy.

Anyway, put your mind at rest, I'm sure you and baby will be fine!

Sorry, slipped a couple of xs out there. Not very mumsnet!

Thanks. Not taking any supplements or anything. I suppose it is hard to imagine it being a problem... It's just a fairly normal food.

V happy to be preg again but I do hate the "terrors".... Will I miscarry, (later) is baby kicking enough, will there be oxygen starvation during birth etc etc.

Thanks again...
