What do contractions feel like?

I suppose this is a thread about a thread as I have another one in here about my waters going but not having contractions. I'm now getting aching lower back, comes and goes, nothing major as I'm a wuss, but wondering if this is early contractions or just wind?!? Had a few periods type cramps too, but no idea what I'm expecting. As you can see I'm a very clueless first timer Blush

Mine started like that first time round! It was a back to back labour with DD. It all started in the back... twinges that came and went. The show appeared not long after.

Is your bag packed? Good luck! Grin

Bunbaker · 13/03/2013 17:37

For me it was like a bad period pain that came and went in waves.

Bag was packed in a panic this morning after gushes of waters going. Just been at home all day kind of waiting for something to happen :)

Mine started as period pain in lower tummy-given that your waters have gone have you spoken to your midwife r.e how long they are happy to leave you? Good luck, you can do it :)

I've got to ring at 7 am tomorrow if no natural labour, I'm boinging up and down on my gym ball like its a space hopper, except when typing.

EEEEEEP! Exciting. Good luck girl- you've got this Grin

Keep your fluid levels up & have a break from boinging every now and again to conserve a bit of energy! Will be thinking of you!

CheeseStrawWars · 13/03/2013 17:52

Personally, I'd save my energy rather than bouncing! Wink

Do you know which way baby is lying? Going on all fours is supposed to encourage it not to be back to back.

ratbagcatbag · 13/03/2013 18:10

It's head down, back to my stomach so spot on position, it just doesn't want to come out. I'm so not a patient person :) just trying to get it going naturally as really don't want to be induced. I just wonder if these aches around my lower back are early contractions or just typical back ache.

My started and stayed all in my back. Like muscle spasms. But my daughter was back to back.

Celia1978 · 13/03/2013 19:52

Mine were in my back - well, sort of coccyx area - and stayed there. And DD wasn't back to back…

Kafri · 15/03/2013 22:35

ds was b2b and I felt everything in my back. was like waves of pain that got more intense as time went on. didn't feel anything whatsoever in my tummy.

AmandaCooper · 16/03/2013 09:57

DS was also back to back and all the pains were in my back and the tops of my thighs like very intense stabbing muscle cramps. No sensations in my abdomen at all.

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/03/2013 10:09

like being squeezed round the middle by a boa constrictor
