Probably should havename change for this!

I'm not really sure if this is pregnancy related but wasn't really sure where else to post.

After sex, I get this really heavy feeling 'down there' like somethings going to fall out. It last for a few hours and it's really uncomfortable. Its so bad that I can't stand up for too long. Does any one else get this?

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I'm 22. This is DC2 if that makes any difference.

Sounds like 'the beginnings of SPD to me. But it could be something else!

Fairy130389 · 08/03/2013 20:42

Yep, I had this for a while and it is now SPD. Have a chat with your midwife.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, butwhat is SPD? Blush

Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction otherwise known as Pelvic Girdle Pain. When you get pregnant, your body starts releasing a hormone called relaxin. This helps to loosen up your ligaments prior to birth. Sadly for a lot of women, it has the consequence of making your pelvis unstable and basically it starts moving around too much which can be painful.
I had it in both pregnancies, but managed to keep it fairly well managed during my second, using acupuncture.
Talk to your midwife, ask to be referred for physio, for the exercises as well as the belt.
Read up on it, educate yourself, learn how to reduce the impact and you will be fine.

I have experienced this weird feeling and am glad to report I don't have SPD and never have done in any of my pregnancies. I suggest doggy style though ;) takes the acrobatic pressure off a bit.

I get this too all the time (DC 3) and have no SPD. It's very uncomfortable though while it lasts! I am 35 weeks now and getting quite big so not so much of the sex going on here!! Grin

Thank you maggie for explaining. That's sounds horrible, im glad you found ways to manage it. I really hope it doesn't turn into that! I think I'll speak to the midwife about it when I see her next!

Thanks for the doggy style tip Wink I'll have to see if that helps!

Just out of curiosity, do you get this feeling every time you have sex? I get it every time now. It kind of puts me off it a bit. Confused

I used to get this with ds1 had no spd in that pregnancy though, it got worse around 30wks pregnant and felt really heavy down there

I didn't really have sex when I was pregnant but the dragging sensation is definitely something that I was pretty sure related to the spd. I still sometimes get that feeling if standing a lot while on my period.
