Measuring large

Had my 28week appointment and they measured me, was just below the 50% line so all good. Was measured at 31weeks and way over the 90% line. They are sending me for an ultrasound scan to measure properly. The midwife pointed out that I was short ( no kidding -I am 5.1) and that oh was tall (6.4) but that I could just be a bit fat (!). I was not exactly skinny before pregnant but not that bad and surely I would have been fat at 28 weeks... Any one else had this? Is it going to be a massive baby?

I am 5'2" and OH is 6'3". DD2 was 9lb2 with a head circumference on the 91st %ile - she arrived in 2 hours though and I only had a small tear (healed in a few weeks). So being small with a big baby need not be a problem. I'm not sure how accurate the tape measurements are though - I measured 1cm smaller at one point than at the previous appointment but I think baby had just changed position.

The tape measuring can be wildly inaccurate, so you'll get a better idea at the scan.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm measuring 2 weeks too big and have had a scan which shows baby is slightly large. I had a scan at term with my DS at term which also showed him as large (almost 9lbs) but when I had him 12 days later he was 7lbs 6. I'm 5ft and DH is 6ft.
