Hi I just wondered if anyone has recieved carers allowance that has then had to make a claim for maternity pay

I am self employed and receive £58.45 carers allowance a week for my eldest son.Im due to claim maternity allowance soon.I just wondered what rate of maternity allowance I'm likely to get as I understand carers allowance will stop.

Thank you Smile

I can't help with the carers bit but I'm self employed and just claimed maternity allowance. As long as you have paid your class 2 national insurance you will get the highest rate which is £139ish a week for 39 weeks.

It's only employed people who send away their wage slips who get 90% of wages paid (up to the highest rate of £139)

Blue Thank You. I still haven't sent off my claim form is there a time limit do you know. I'm 30 weeks pregnant. I have been paying my Ni contributions by six monthly billing so they may just ask me to pay the extra as last time I paid was end of January.
