I didn't know if it was something I had eaten but now that DH and DD are both also suffering I know it's a bug as we've all eaten different things.

I'm throwing up even when I just have water and my stomach has been so bad (tmi) I've actually... give myself piles by sitting there all night.

Should I just get on with this or should I call someone? (And any advice as I feel pretty awful from head to... Well... Piles!!) Blush

Sorry you're feeling crap. Thanks Could well be norovirus from your description, if so the vomiting and diarrhoea should be wearing off after about 48hours, but you'll continue to feel crap for a while. If you're not getting better, I'd discuss it with the midwife, just in case, as you may be getting dehydrated.

I had it when I was about 11 weeks gone, and it was pretty dreadful, i hope you feel better soon.

I had this at 5 months, it was the norovirus, after a couple of days I did have to go to the hospital to get rehydrated with a drip, but that's because I was severly dehydrated. If you can get some liquids down you, or even suck ice cubes, then try. If not, call the docs after 2 days or go to a and e. My baby was totally unharmed by the experience and was a 10lb'er (apparently it hits the poor mum, and babies are generally protected). Hope you feel much better soon x

Have you tried just taking water from a teaspoon? Just one spoonful every 20 minutes until it stays down then you can shorten the time between spoonfuls. How long has it been going on?

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 05/03/2013 19:53

Doh! Ignore the 'how long' bit. If you're worried call your midwife for advice.

TTCmay · 05/03/2013 20:02

Call midwife or alternatively nhs direct if you really feel bad/can't keep water down

I had gastro-enteritis when 7 months pregnant and ended up on drip. But ditto re mother feels rubbish and baby was fine - my DD was absolutely fine!

Hope you feel better soon .

I have had severe sickness bugs in both pregnancies. It is horrible and you will be feeling absolutely dreadful you poor thing. But the baby will be fine. Your body will protect the pregnancy.

Thanks everyone, just trying to go to bed but poor DD is a bit worse than she was earlier so I think we're in for a messy night!

oh dear, you have my sympathy, I had norovirus a few weeks back (now 17w) and it wasn't pleasant!
All the things I read said not to worry as long as you can keep hydrated, if not or if it goes on over 48hrs without improvement get advice as you may need fluids IV.
The baby will be fine, they take what they need first, little parasites!

Hope you are all feeling better soon Thanks
