7 week scan after prev miscarriage shows me being only 5 weeks?

Help. Just been for a v early scan as had prev mc in aug. gp says I am 7 weeks and that fits my own dates but scan shows only 5 weeks. An so worried thus means its all gone wrong v early. Got to wait 2 weeks before another scan . Anyone else had this? :-(

I am sure it is nothing to worry about. I had my first scan when my dates were 7+5 according to periods but baby only measure 6+3.

However by time we came to 11+2 according to my periods baby was measuring 11+0 on scan and when I had the nuchal scan at 13 weeks it was exact same size.

I have heard this happens a lot in early stages. I don't think it has anything to do with previous miscarriage.

How sure are you about when you ovulated? You may have ovulated later than you thought?

i am exactly the same. i had a scan at 7 weeks ad the gp put the fear of god into me saying i was only 6 weeks and the baby was growing very slowly.

i went to another GP at what i thought was 8+2 but she said was 7+4.

rather than scaring me she was very supportive and positive and said all babies grow at a different rate and catch up in their own time. i left feeling completely different and very positive.

According to the first day of my last period, I should be 9+5 weeks but I'm actually 8+5. I must have ovulated later than I thought. It does happen so I wouldn't worry too much until the 12 week scan - they call that the dating scan for a reason!

Also, I think I read somewhere that the baby will have growth spurts so maybe yours is due one - let us know how you get on.

I am in a similar situation. I had an early scan at 6+1 last week (standard at my fertility clinic) and the sac was small and no foetal pole or heartbeat was visible. I am 100% sure on my dates as it is IVF.

I am having an awful week in limbo at the moment, one minute sure I am going to miscarry and the next seeing a glimmer of hope. I have a rescan on Thursday when I should be 7+1. If no heartbeat is seen then, I think I will be told to stop the post-IVF drugs (as these can delay m/c bleeding by making your body think it is still pregnant) to let my body to the necessary.

On a natural cycle is if likely you ovulated later than you thought. The waiting is really, really tortuous. Sorry you have this worry too.

I hope you get a good result too. The waiting is really, really tough. I have an office job and have been googling all sorts of things in every spare minute over the past few days.
