Right sided pain prior to urination...

Has anyone else had this? I get what feels like a 10 minute warning before I realise I need a wee, in the form of crippling pain in my right side by my kidneys (infection type pain). It's been happening for around a month or two, but it's only recently I've made a link between the pain and needing to wee. It disappears after I've been to the loo, but when it strikes it's pretty much debilitating - I can hardly move or lift my right leg, and it comes and goes in waves til I go. I'm going to pop to the GP tomorrow with a sample to have a chat, but I was wondering if I was the only one or if its a common pregnancy thing? I'm 29+1 btw.

Not a common thing and was going to say to go to GP with a urine sample but I see you're doing that which is good. Hope they can help, keep us posted! x

I'd suspect urine infection that's tracked up to your kidney. Definitely take a sample. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, have an appointment at 9.40am so will see what he says. I had a UTI in January and thinking about it, the pains seem to have started a week or two after that. Have had such an uncomplicated pregnancy so far, knew it was too good to be true :)

Ha I know that feeling all too well! At 33 weeks (today, eek!), I survived the first trimester with just one UTI and lots of puking. Second trimester just a heavy cold. Now I've had a nasty UTI and have an irritable uterus! Ready to pop this kid out now! :)

Well it's been an eventful morning....!

It's either an infection or a kidney stone :( Dr is going to send off my sample (which showed blood) and if it comes back negative for infection, he'll send me for a scan. I was told that they can't do anything for stones until after baby is born though, so that should be interesting...

While I was there he had a look at my glucose test results (had it on Friday) and gave me the fantastic news that I've also got gestational diabetes. Yay! So now waiting on a call back from the midwife to see what needs to happen next.

Think I might go back to bed....

Oh no you poor thing :( Hope they get you scanned soon and can help with the pain as being pregnant is bad enough. What rotten luck! x

Ooh I had similar last year. Horrible, horrible pain at the best of times and must be awful when pregnant! Sorry to hear about the GD but at least now they know they can help you manage it. I hope you feel better soon.

Just thought I'd add that I had similar last week. Was diagnosed with a water infection after a urine test, which I started taking antibiotics for, but it didn't improve so I went to the EPU. Turned out it was a corpus leutum cycst (I'm sure I've spelled that wrong!) on the ovary that I ovulated from - apparently it does happen during pregnancy and can be painful. They could see it on the scan...
