Think I might end up at the GP but this has been the second time this has happened recently, I have been working very long hours on a project (I'm 26wks),just wondered if anyone else had had issues with eyesight during pregnancy?

I do work on screens and the office isn;t too bad, but after also working yesterday I couldn't look at the TV, lights and when DH turned the bedside light on at 4am (DD unwell) I was almost sick with the pain in my eye.

Weird eh?

I'd get it checked out. Could be migraine but could be more serious (although the fact it has come gone then come again is positive). I hope you feel better soon xx

Pregnancy can affect your eyesight but normally just making your eyes dryer.

I would get checked out ASAP.

You should really get it checked out ASAP, I wouldn't dismiss it as a pregnancy symptom. Do you wear contact lenses?

redwellybluewelly · 04/03/2013 15:29

I wear glasses and the eye affected is my weaker eye - it doesn't feel like conjunctivitis or a tear duct, but sweet jesus it hurts when I move into bright light or focus too hard on something.

Also extremely overtired which cannot be helping - day off tomorrow.

Will book GP.

Quick update, finally got an appointment and GP suspects an infection of the eye surface due to the severity of the pain, the photosensitivity and the fact it comes and goes. GP unable to treat me due to concerns about the type of infection so emergency appt at hospital arranged within an hour.

I'm not panicking because that would be foolish but GP was worried about the effect on my vision.

I hope it all goes well, Red.

I've been getting the same thing recently, but I'm not pregnant and I do wear contact lenses. It's a mission to get seen by anyone here though...

Catsdontcare · 08/03/2013 16:40

Oh I'm glad you have a hospital appointment I have had an eye infection that caused photo sensitivity before but mine was caused by contact lenses. (Got a very stern talking to at the hospital)

You can never be too careful with your eyes

Ok. Unknown cause but infection of the eye white, two week course of steroids and then another hospital check.

Dr was honest and said its much more common in those who have contact lenses, pregnancy was not a factor and that I could just leave it but as its flared twice he strongly recommended the steroids. Thanks for the support everyone.
