If first baby is early, is it likely that subsequent babies are early?

Hi guys, My first baby was 3 weeks early, I'm now 32 weeks pregnant with second baby. Could she be early too? I think I may have had my dates wrong with my first as he was 6 pound 13 3/4 oz, and this time the midwife has said she is going to be a big baby. In both pregnancies though the height of fundus has been right, last week it was 32 cm at 31 +1 weeks. What do you think? Anyone else had this experience?

Happy1 - I would like to think that my 2nd would be a week or 2 early like my 1st..... BUT

I know someone who's 1st was 4 weeks early weighing only 5lb.... her 2nd, born 2 weeks ago... was 2 weeks LATE and weighed 8lb!! So I dunno if it matters or not.

well all mine were early and heavy, 1st bot 2 weeks early 8lb,2nd boy 3 weeks early 8lb 13oz,3rd girl 2 weeks early 8lb 4oz.

My first was a week early, and I confidently expected the second one to be early too...but in fact he was nearly a week late, and bit bigger too.

I heard from a midwife (and this is an old wife's tale) that the length of pregnancy was linked to the length of your monthly cycle. So if you had a short monthly cycle you were more likely to have a shorter pregnancy. It was true for me - I have a slightly longer than usual monthly cycle and both my pregnancies have gone way over term. Be interested to know if this bears out for anyone else - I've never really asked anyone before.

Rubyred - I don't think that is an old wives tale. I think it's true, but I'm sure mears or pupuce would be able to clarify that.

In my experience (with that of my clients is true).... You usually have a few days less with 2nd or later babies but not always and if you had a premie you certainly do not necessarily have another one next time around.

And yes if you have a long cycle you have a baby later..... your EDD should actually be calculated from when you ovulated (and conceived) NOT when your last period was !
