Is my baby transverse? I'm confused!

Hi all, haven't posted in a while but I'd love some advice.

I'm 35+5 with DC2. At my 34 week mw appt I was told that baby is head down and 1 fifth engaged - does this mean he can no longer move around?

The last few days I have had really strong (bloody painful!) kicks at the far left side of my bump towards the bottom. And then last night whilst I was relaxing in bed I watched as he stretched and I got one large lump on the far left side of my bump and one large lump on the far right side of my bump - it was so uncomfy it took my breath away. I have a very small 'neat' bump and can see most of the movements he makes and recently it's all been across the middle (so from far left, behind belly button to far right).

Does this sound like he could be lying transverse now? With DS1 I always had his feet in my rib cage so I could tell where he was! Should I ring the midwife on Monday to ask her to check or wait until my next appointment at 38 weeks?

TIA

He might be but could also be lying like mine, with bum under right ribs and feet on left hand side? I sometimes get funny bumps like you describe. Mine was also transverse until about 35 weeks and I now look slimmer down the sides of my bump. You could ring the midwife and see if you need an extra appointment.

Hi Alfie! Just saw your post after I had posted myself on the same subject. Our situations sound v similar.

My baby was head down at a 34w scan and now I am convinced the transverse thing has happened even though I thought once they were down they were down... Also I was told at MW appointment on only Wednesday that the baby had dropped so I assumed once there it would stay there... But like you I have been v uncomfortable these past two days and seen and felt some very odd movements. Anyway just responding to your thread as maybe somebody in the know will join in and give advice!!
Good luck and hope you're not in too much discomfort x

Thanks for the responses, I have NO IDEA what this little chap is up to now!! I seem to be getting pummelled from the inside all over the place, maybe he's just desperate to get out :)

Good luck Emerald, here's hoping to nice easy births in a few weeks time :)
