Trying to conceive but need to come off the pill

Hi I'm new to mumsnet, and just after some help and advice regarding the above subject.

I've been on various oral contraceptives for nearly 5 years, and me husband and I have spoken about wanting to now try for a baby. For the last at least 2 years I've been in Cerazette. I've read some bad reviews about it, but I can't say I've had many bad side effects!

Anyway, just after some useful advice as to what is best to do with coming off the pill? Any handy tips, or if people could give me an idea on how long it took them to conceive after coming off the pill.

Thanks ladies!

I was on microgynon for 11years,took last pill & was pregnant before I had my first real period. It made knowing the conception date a bit difficult (although not very,& it was pretty accurate). Would recommend taking folic acid sooner rather than later. As an aside, I have read that women are sometimes put on the pill to regulate their cycles if they are trying to conceive. Good luck :)

I was on Logynon for about ten years - took me six weeks to get pg when I came off at age of 35. Good luck!

Well I'm on the pop pill and it does say that you can stop at anytime so I'm guessing ill be ok. If I'm honest I've had the typical period symptoms too. Craving sweet things, tiredness and light dull achy back. I'm hoping I can get this period going soon and I'll be back to normal within a few cycles.

Thanks FairyLea I'll defo keep that in mind! Very useful to know:)

If the pill had long lasting effects you wouldn't have to take one every day would you?

Start shagging! Good luck!

No need to finish the pack with Cerazette if you aren't having periods anyway..

I was in mycrogynon for 10 years, came off the pill in July, used condoms for a month to make sure I had a period so I could date it properly if I did get pregnant and found out I was pregnant in September :)
