Sorry about the title didnt know what to put :-) Im 27+4 weeks with my second DC and i had my gallbladder removed in july last year before i feel pregnant. Just wanted to know if anyone else with no gallbladder has ever experienced this. Now my little man is very active when he kicks were my gall bladder should of been it really hurts. Sometimes aswell if i push were my gall bladder is to try and move it it hurts so much and leaves a dull ache there for a while afterwards. I dont know if this pain is conected to having my gall bladder removed just thought id ask if anyone has experienced similar. Have the midwife next week so will ask her and know theres nothing they can do just worried that he still has lots of growing and how painful its going to get.

Hi there, I had mine removed 1 year before I got pregnant with DD. as far as I can remember it didn't cause any major problems with my pregnancy. My MW did say that the scars (key hole) my be a little painful as my bump grew but I don't think they were. Best of luck

Thank you i dont know whether it is because of the gall bladder removal or not its just strange its were it used to be. Maybe hes stuck under my ribs and that may be the pain. Just really sore there today but its not the scars it feels like its inside. Hes prob just a really harder kicker proberley :-)

Not sure I can help as mine was removed 4 years before pregnancy.

I think it might be worth getting it checked as you should have healed by now.

29+3 here and have terrible biley sickness throughout pregnancy and have wondered if this is due to lack of gallbladder. Would be interested in others' tales.

Interesting!

I had my gall bladder removed 6 after my twins were born. I wonder if it does make a difference to your pregnancy.

Another one here with no gallbladder! Haven't noticed any pain but was quite sick at beginning. Now 27 weeks. Did you have painful time with your gall bladder? I did and friend who had both said pain was similar to labour!

I had my gallbladder removed between my first this (my second) pregnancies. I had horrific morning sickness and bile through my first pregnancy, which in hidsight my doctor thinks might have been related to my gallbladder. I did end up with pancreatitus not long after my son was born. I agree, way worse than labour! Only 17 weeks this time round but next to no morning sickness and certainly no pain. I haven't noticed any pains where my gallbladder used to be either.

Definately worth talking to your midwife about it, I am sure it is nothing but they should be able to put your mind at ease. Might be worth making a doctors appointment as well, just in case it is down to the surgery rather than the pregnancy if you see what I mean?

Hope you feel better soon!

I had my gall bladder removed and im 38weeks now. I havent had any complications either with the scar or where my gall bladder used to be. It may be the position of the baby thats causing some pain. I agree the gall stones were extremely painful. Im pregnant with my first dc so i don't know how the pain compares to labour.

gardenpixie32 · 01/03/2013 17:27

I didn't go through labour but I can tell you gall stones are 100 times more painful than a c-section and its recovery!

Thanks for all the comments I agree about gallstone pain being more painful than giving birth. The pain I experienced with my gall bladder was horrendous. Ill speak to the midwife next week I am finding his kicks and rolls really painful at the moment almost like he's gonna pop out my stomach lol. I don't remember my daugther being this painful but that was 5 years ago. X
