28 weeks, virus stopping me eating, will it harm the baby?

I have had flu four days now. Although its a chesty flu rather than a stomach flu I have no appetite at all. When I try and eat I feel sick (probably due to coughing).

In the past four days I have managed a couple of pieces of toast every 24 hours max. I am drinking water and honey and lemon but suspect I should drink more too.

Can 4 days of restricted calories hurt the baby or should it be OK as long as this does not go on for weeks?

Your baby will be fine - it takes what it needs regardless. What you must do is keep up the fluids as much as possible. Have you tried having soup/eating little and often (despite not feeling hungry).

Your body will basically nourish your baby before you - your baby should be fine but it's you that'll suffer.

Keep yourself well hydrated, call your MW if you have any concerns.

Thanks both. I will try and drink more and maybe try a milkshake or soup or something else that is liquid but contains lots of calories.

If you're coughing lots, anything milk based could exacerbate the catarrh so best to stick to soups/non-dairy foods if you can.
