Hi everyone! Im currently 19 weeks pregnant and im starting to think about whether i should opt for private maternity care. Its not to say that the NHS is bad, but as i'm a nervous wreck and i worry all the time, having worked in the NHS for 10 years, i'm all to aware of the problems with staffing and being left. that's not to say its the midwives fault, as im sure they all do a wonderful job under such difficult circumstances, but i'm so scared of not having the 'control' and being in a situation where i dont know whats going on or having to go to another hospital because the delivery suite is full, given that delivery suites are always going to be full given the baby boom thats going on!
Im not bothered about having a private room etc, its more of having the reassurance that there will be enough staff.
does anyone know of any private units in lancashire?

I didn't think there was any private maternity hospitals outside London but could be wrong. You could hire an independent midwife to be with you at an NHS hospital? Personally I'm hoping for a home birth to guarantee 2:1 care when I'm in labour :)
