A place to carry on chatting after a BFP and support each other through the stressful bits. I hope to see many new graduates appearing....

Thank you [Aoife & Jbrd]. What's a Harmony Test Jbrd???

Aoifebelle · 09/04/2013 13:31

Also feeling really bleugh today. I think I am experiencing the first hint of morning sickness. I feel a bit sea sick almost. Only feel normal right after eating, but ten minutes later feels like I am on the QE2 again. I am so not complaining, I welcome each and every new symptom.
Garden the harmony test is a blood test that can substitute for amnio or CVS, only available privately. There is info on it in the pre-natal testing page, but you might want to be feeling a bit stronger before venturing there - one day at a time!
JBd if you do go for a scan make sure it is not too early. Mine was and it meant another two days of waiting and worrying for the bloods to come back. I am back in next friday for a scan but was quite firmly told by the doc, the scan will only confirm that a) there is an embryo and b) it is where it should be. I am happy enough just to get confirmation that there is something growing in there.

squizita · 09/04/2013 13:48

Baking - hope all ends up OK. Fingers crossed.

Today - bloods, scans... Downgraded to a PUV (all symptoms uterine, normal hormones, consultant felt confident to do this). And no risk of surgery unless I show symptoms or decline! Feel so relieved. Even said maybe, just maybe, sac is growing and might have yolk. Don't dare hope but so relieved red alert is over.

MissLolita · 09/04/2013 16:08

Squid, really good new xxx

I had some brilliant news today too - the scan showed a wriggly, bouncy kidney bean measuring a perfect 9+3. I cried, dh cried and then we just hugged one another through sheer relief.

I know this isn't the golden ticket but I am so very, very relieved. I have a midwife booking in apt on Friday and I think it will feel even more real then.

X

GaryBuseysTeeth · 09/04/2013 16:20

Squiz, will be holding out for the best possible news but being downgraded must be a relief compared to what they were thinking yesterday. Although limbo is a horrible, stressful place to be stuck, hope you get your answer with tomorrow's bloods.

MissL, congratulations on the wriggly bean!

JBird, only on this thread could I say to someone I'm glad you're feeling sick & awful Grin
If I were you, I'd put the money towards a harmony too, if we came back as anything other than really low risk with the blood/nuchal scan I would go for a harmony over CVS/amino.

Glad you're feeling sick too Aoife!

squizita · 09/04/2013 17:08

Gary's... no more bloods! Smile Consultant says not needed as my bloods are normal uterine. He's literally just tracking on the scanner every few days now.

MissL - great news! All the best!

Aoife & Jbird - well morning sickness = hormones, so although yuk is good in a way!

IBelieveInPink · 09/04/2013 18:39

Wow is this right? Harmony test is £600/£750?? Just had a quick look- am I looking at the right thing?

MissL fab news. So pleased :)

And for you squiz. Either way sounds like a better outcome, but crossing fingers toes and legs!

shellshock7 · 09/04/2013 19:02

Thanks for the lovely message married Smile

garden I have had nights where I've been convinced its all goin wrong and woke up feeling not PG anymore and all is ok so far...you just have to ride these days out Smile

That's good news squiz, how you feeling?

Great scan news lolita you must be very happy Grin

I've never heard of the harmony test, but £750 Shock

andadietcoke · 09/04/2013 19:42

squiz hope you're doing okay, and that you continue to get good news.

ibip yep, that's the one. It's a non-invasive test that's only done in a few places in the country. It wasn't an option for me as you can't have it with multiples, but a couple of girls on the september thread have had it, and I definitely would have considered it if I needed to after the NT results.

Speaking of which, I got mine through today, after 4 weeks (should be a max of 2!). One twin was 1 in 6,000 and the other was 1 in 7,500. However, my Papp-A was off the charts high, to the extent they couldn't use it to calculate the risk above the maximum the calculations would allow. The mw said that if they had, it would have gone down even more.

First day back at work today since the day before Good Friday. Have adopted a very passive approach to all the HR nonsense going on - is definitely helping me keep calm!

IBelieveInPink · 09/04/2013 19:47

Ooh diet - sorry I am not really up on what all the tests are. What is Papp A and is a high score good?

Good persepctive on the HR stuff. I am a HR manager and it is much easier if you try and do the best you can for people, but limit from getting personally involved. It is too much stress on your own life otherwise.

DIYandEatCake · 09/04/2013 19:57

squiz yay for hope! Keeping everything crossed for you. Thank goodness they didn't do surgery before.

garden I'm with you on feeling like that. In fact, I felt so 'well' today that I did another pg test, but now I feel far worse as the line looked fainter than a few days ago... same make test, later in the day but surely it should be strong positive by now, rather than just faint? Would the doctors just laugh me out of the place if I went in hoping for blood tests?

IBelieveInPink · 09/04/2013 20:04

DIY how far along are you now? You know the hormones get less as time goes on? And did you use the same brand? Had you drunk a lot before hand? questions much?!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 09/04/2013 20:23

Squiz, ah! So are you back in on Thursday? Will be keeping everything crossed for you.

DIY, what time did you do the test? If you're panicky about it all, myself,IBIP (I think) and a few others on here have relied on the scientific method of using clearblue digitals?
It hurts to pee on £10 worth of stick each time, but on my MC I didn't get past 1-2wks so to see a 3+ was sweet relief.

I read in one of the pregnancy magazines today that 1.6years is the average age gap between DC1 & 2 in the UK.
That should've been me & my average babies.
I feel very lucky that I fell pg with this one straight after mc but that statistic has made me feel like a total failure. We were ttc for 8 months before I had mc, if I were any good at getting pg I should've had DC2 by now.

I bloody knew reading was bad for you! Grin

DIYandEatCake · 09/04/2013 20:24

Only 4+5. I thought hcg should be doubling at this stage? It was the same brand, hadn't drunk much or been to the loo for a few hours so thought it would be a good time to test for a bit of reassurance. And now I can feel a dull ache. I want to feel sick again!

BumpKitty · 09/04/2013 20:28

excellent news lolita I had a call about my booking in appt - not till April 26th! I'll be almost 12 weeks then, it's my fault for not telling them sooner but I couldn't face it.

Thankfully the midwife has already requested my scans so I have to just hope they can fit me in around the right time.

squiz fx here for you too.

big wave to everyone else, ibip no scan countdown? :) and congrats on the results anda xx

DIYandEatCake · 09/04/2013 20:30

gary, 1.6 years?! Blimey, that would mean getting pg again when first dc just 9 months. If it makes you feel any better I would have had a gap of 2.3 years (miscarried that one), if it works out this time will have a gap of 2.9 years. I have a friend who started ttc dc2 at the same time as me and now has a 3 month old baby.

JanieLovesCake · 09/04/2013 20:30

squiz that's great that didn;t do surgery, nor will you need it. fingers crossed for more good results for you x

diy as gary said, the cbdigis were the only way my mind was at rest... but if you but a 2 pack it works out cheaper than singles. i also had never seen the screen with 3+ so i had a wee jump for joy when i saw it. and you are still early days so sickness may not have properly kicked in. i'm 7+5 today i think, and still no puking. just an odd wooziness in the shower and then at about midday when i have to drink coke and have an orange. i never drink fat coke and i think my teeth might fall out eek. so long as there's a baby i'll pay for dental work!!

gary pleeeeease don't take that article as gospel - personally i think that sounds bollocks. no one i know has kids as close together as that. no one. put the magazine dooooowwwwwnnnnnn. xxx

BumpKitty · 09/04/2013 20:32

diy the tests are really not an exact science, if it would put your mind at rest maybe call the epu and see if they would do bloods for you. I have no idea if they would or not as my EPU just doesn't do bloods at all Confused or try the clear blue digotal like gary says, hi gary - :)

DIYandEatCake · 09/04/2013 20:39

Thanks guys. I may try the cbdigis, but would have to wait a few days anyway as at less than 5 weeks it would still say 1-2 weeks wouldn't it. Do you think the GP might do hcg tests if this ache and loss of symptoms carries on or will they think I'm mad? I had zillions of hcg tests for my miscarriage, think I might have got a bit obsessed with them...

DIYandEatCake · 09/04/2013 20:42

Sorry for coming on here and panicking and being all 'me me me'- my first proper panic this time Blush

IBelieveInPink · 09/04/2013 20:45

Oh DIY- still early ish. Like the others say, a cb digi Helped for me for the first few weeks. 3+ is definitely reassuring. Or go and get some bloods done :) I'm sure it is nothing to worry about though.

I am still not that queasy and I am now (hopefully) 8+2. Obviously stressing about this too, (of course)

Bump - Didn't know if everyone was getting a little bored of me and my scan countdown! 2 days 12 hours and 15 minutes since you asked :) :)

IBelieveInPink · 09/04/2013 20:46

An DIY - officially 4-5 weeks would show as 2-3. But the 2-3 bit is known for being statistically the most inaccurate one (only right 75% of the time) so don't get overly concerned by it.

shellshock7 · 09/04/2013 20:48

anda that's good results, right? You must feel relieved Smile

I think I would only pay £750 for that kind of test (depending on my financial position at the time) if I was pretty sure that I couldn't continue with the PG if I didn't get the all clear...and until I didn't get the all clear I couldn't be certain what I would do so I don't think the harmony test would be my choice? Just basing that on what I've read here, I'd not heard of it till now.

Another recommending the clear blue tests diy was really reassuring to see it go up each week.

gary that's the gap we wanted...DS would've been almost 18 months if last PG had stuck Hmm Only gonna be 20 months tho now so fingers crossed all will be ok Smile

squizita · 09/04/2013 20:55

DIY- I would ring your EPU directly and ask for an appointment. If you have reasons they should be able to do a simple blood test.

I am just realising how thorough my EPU is! Terrifying in its own way but at least they have a good investigate.

andadietcoke · 09/04/2013 20:58

shell yep, that'll do me. And very relieved. I panicked so much about it beforehand.

ibip I have no idea what Papp-A is. They measure that and and HcG and combine them with the NT measurement. She said high was good though!
