Hi I'm due to go in hospital for a c-section in 10 weeks. With my dd nearly 8 yrs ago I had a emergency c-section + can't honestly remember what I packed. Any tips do's + donts about packing my hospital bag please. Also how long do you usually stay in for a c-section ? Many thanks

My hospital sends c section patients home after 4 days all being well, although I stayed longer with both babies once due to poorly baby, once due to poorly me.

For hospital bag, c section specific things on top of all usual dubbins:
Shower gel on a hook
Slip on shoes or slippers
Sports cap bottle, to drink lying down
Sweat pants / yoga pants with big high waistbands.
Nothing "under bump" - this is the same as "on the scar".
Some people swear by Arnica for the bruising. I don't know you feel about homoeopathy, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
Dried figs and apricots to keep things moving down below.

and for afterwards - a baby sling or carrier - they put the weight on your back.

Good luck!

expect to stay 1-3 nights.
Take;
flip flops
dressing gown
big pants that won't irritate scar
lots of maternity pads
phone charger
something to read whilst waiting
nightie..you will have a catheter in afterwards so pjs don't really work
breast pads if planning to breast feed & breast feeding bra
make up & toilet bag
something comfortable to wear home that won't rub on scar eg maternity yoga pants

and all the baby stuff too

Have got myself 2 pairs or pj's + vest tops packed, 10 pairs of big pants lol, usual smellies 20 maternity pads and a box of breast pads a dressing gown and slip on slippers. Was gonna pack clothes nearer the time. Maybe pack a couple of nighties as well. My camera and spare batteries. Have a spare phone charger so will put that in. Quite nervous now !! Do u think 20 maternity pads r enough ? I would like to breast feed but not sure if I will so haven't brought nursing bras yet was gonna do that once I know I def will. Baby bag + car seat r ready just getting my bag ready seems to be more challanging !

That all sounds fine!I really would get 1 breast feeding bra though, once the milk comes in it can go everywhere and a bra will keep the pads in place. Can always buy more later.I just wore home what I wore to the hospital so no need to take extra clothes as long as what you wear is over the bump and comfy!
Good luck Smile
