Hi,

My wife is pregnant for the first time she is 11 weeks and we went for our booking in at hospital today. She has ate and drank after coming home but is feeling very sick and pale, is this normal after blood being taken.

Thank you

Well, I am not pregnant but have had blood taken A LOT. I've never felt I'll afterwards. Hopefully this will bump the thread and someone pregnant will be able to help. Maybe it's a coincidence and your wife has a bug?

I would say probably a coincidence. The amount of blood taken is so small it wouldn't cause her to feel faint/ill in itself. Perhaps a bug? Or just general pregnancy symptoms? Plenty of fluids & hope she feels better soon.

Is she normally fine after having blood taken? I go a bit funny sometimes after I have a blood test or injection and I faint and quite often throw up, and it can make me feel a bit shit for the rest of the day. I've no idea why it happens because I've never been needle-phobic, it started after my TB jab at school and has happened after probably 75% of the needles I've had since! But if your wife has never experienced that kind of thing before then I've no idea. Could she be coming down with something and it just be a coincidence? Or is she suffering with morning sickness or dizziness because of her pregnancy? I know I only barely made it to my booking appointment because I was throwing up so much!
