I made a sudden movement on Sunday (reflex to catch something) and instantly felt something in stomach and had a loss of some red blood. It wasn't an awful lot but definitely more than spotting. Went to hospital (what was point in that!) and paid for a scan today. The scan showed a yolk sac but they said it could only be 5 weeks, not 6+3 which I know it must be with my dates. They said there are 2 outcomes. Either, body has started to miscarry (as it stopped growing week or so ago) and will continue to do so (I've got stomach pains) or I am just less pregnant than I thought and it could progress normally. Going for another scan a week today.

Has anyone got anything to share that might help me? Either to give me hope or to stop me getting hopes up?

Thank you

I'm afraid at this stage there's nothing to do but wait and hope. If you didn't have any pain, and the bleeding has stopped that's a good sign. I had spotting at 6, 8 and 9 weeks roughly. I'm now 21 weeks and had a normal 20 week scan, so for me the bleeding didn't mean anything, if that helps.

Oh, and resist the urge to google, it will only send you crazy!

I hope it's just one of those things, and your bean is just settling in.

Thanks for replying, I know I have got to wait and see now. Just can't deal with how to deal with it mentally, do i remain hopeful or do I prepare myself for worst, impossible to do both. If I am going to miscarry, would it be soon?

Hi - I had similar symptoms to you at 6 weeks, but really severe bleeding with blood clots etc. I had to wait 3 days before I could go for my scan. In those 3 days we did a lot of talking about how we felt and what our options were if it was bad news from the scan. It was reassuring to know that the love we had for each other was rock solid and would get us through this emotional upheaval.

The scan was totally fine.

I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and the recent scan was declared to reveal a "perfect" result: PHEW!

We genuinely thought it was all over in those 3 bleak days as we waited for the 6 week scan. Now I can feel reassuring thumps and kicks and it's lovely. More than lovely!

My advice is to talk about how you're feeling with those you trust as it helps you to be honest with yourself and also to find hidden strength which I believe we all have.

Wishing you well for all that your future brings you.

I had cramping and bleeding for a few days at 6 weeks. I didn't do anything about it (apart from worry) as I knew nothing could be done if the worst was happening. At my booking appointment at 8 weeks my MW said bleeding is common at around 6 weeks as the embryo implants further.

The same happened again at 9 weeks and this time I phoned MW and went for a scan at the EPU, which showed everything was fine.

I'm nearly 23 weeks now and all seems to be going well. No further bleeding since those 2 early episodes.

Bleeding in early pregnancy is very common.

I hope everything turns out ok for you. Smile
