Hi all... I'm 5w 3d (very early on I know) but I've been really tired for the last few weeks.

I work strange shifts and tonight I'm working 10pm - 8am, my job means that my mind needs to stay sharp. I normally rely on a concoction of red bull and strong coffee, both of which I have obviously stopped.

I used to have problems having a snooze before my shift until a colleague suggested a beer to make me sleepy first..... Again, can no longer do this!!

Any night shift workers out there that could give advice on keeping my energy up?? Thanks x

Sweets. Nuts. Fruit. Anything you can pick on to keep energy levels up.

And you can have some caffeine - Google the NHS guidelines then save your caffeine 'allowance' for the part of the shift you'll be most tired.

Sympathies - first trimester is hard work!

Thanks for that.... I shall now save my coffee for my 4am slump. Crazy how my only luxury these days is a coffee!! Lol

I used to have a can of normal coke which perked me up at 4am. My ds turned out fine!

I agree, plenty of snacks and plenty to drink. I'd have a couple of caffeinated drinks in the night to keep me going. I stopped nights at 28 weeks because I found it so draining.

Re your pre-night snooze - I used to accept I probsbly wouldn't sleep but at least I was physically resting.
