Hi there ladies,

I'm a first time mum hoping for some advice,

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and have over the past few days had a dull ache in the right hand side of my abdomen/womb, it occasionally turns into a sharp pain lasting for less than 30 seconds every 6 hours or so.

I have tried contacting my midwife but no reply yet. Im nervous about going to hospital in case it's nothing serious.

Has anyone had a similar problem? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I had my 12 week scan and the little one was fine, but I am o neg blood group.

Any advice would be so helpful... Thanks girls :)

I had lots of aches and pains early on and was told it was my ligaments and pelvis preparing for baby.
Just get yourself to midwife though to be sure.

You should certainly get yourself checked out by the midwife, but just a thought - have you had a good poo lately? I get this type of pain when constipated...

hi, Ive had loads of abdo ache and pain!! finally got to me on friday and i spoke to MW. she was Not very helpful, however i saw GP and went to EPU. On the scan i could see the placenta and it's exactly where the pain /ache is. it's made me feel much better t be able t put a 'reason' so the pain. try to get it checked. x

I had similar sharp/dull pains too in my 15/16 weeks of pregnancy. Was worried as they hurt, but reading helped settle me down. Around this time it's believed our babies go through a 'growth spurt' You will feel aches and pains as your uterus is stretching and so on.

But if you're worried it could be something else, contact your midwife.

It's called round ligament pain, usually starts from 15 weeks. I've had it a few times.
