Hi,

I have the lucozade blood test tomorrow, but I've misplaced the notes. How much Lucozade do I drink and how many minutes before the appointment?

Thanks!

You go in having starved for 12hrs, they take blood, they give you glucose drink or Lucozade, you wait arounf 2hrs, they repeat bloods. Never heard of one where you would be acquiring and consuming lucozade prior to going in?

Is this for the GTT test? I just had to turn up starving and they gave me the drink, which tastes like lemony lucozade. Was a small cup - the size you get at water coolers. And then they took some more blood I think 2 hours later.

But maybe you have a different test/instructions if you have to drink something before the appointment? Could you ring them first thing?

Here they give you the lucozade to take home, you drink 440ml at home then go in and have the blood taken exactly two hours after drinking it.

I was told to drink before I come in. Maybe its like this:

Phone the unit first thing and ask, it seems you are doing something very specific to your area, perhaps if you told us which trust you are under somoene might no the specifics?

sundaesundae · 21/02/2013 22:29

KNOW the specifics

It seems to vary as to where you are in the country.

I had to drink 273ml an hour before the test. It had to be done in the morning and I wasn't allowed to eat anything until after the test. I do remember getting it wrong with dc1 (I ate breakfast before drinking the lucozade) and I ended up being sent away and told to make another appointment.

I would check with your midwife / GP surgery so that you don't have a wasted journey.
