I am 37 weeks and despite feeling extremely tired almost all the time I am completely unable to sleep - if it's not breathlessness, it's a cold or not being able to get comfy. When I can sleep, I keep waking myself up (I think I'm subconsciously worrying that I'm bothering DH, who is under a lot of pressure to finish a mountain of work before baby arrives, with my tossing and turning, snoring and coughing). Today I've been up since 4.30am, having finally gone to sleep around 1.30am! I know that I need to nap, but have a lot of trouble getting to sleep in the daytime. I've tried sleeping propped up on lots of pillows, which does seem to help the breathlessness most of the time, but isn't helping me get to sleep. Does anyone have any other tips for getting some sleep in the last few weeks of pregnancy? I was well prepared not to sleep for the first few weeks/months (years) of baby's life but I wasn't expecting to be starting out this exhausted!

I can only offer some sympathy I'm afraid. In the last few weeks of pregnancy I was waking up every hour at night and was so tired. Day time naps helped a bit but not much. The only positive is that I'm actually getting more sleep now the baby's here!

Im 38 wks and in the same shoes. Even worse, we have a toddler who is also disturbed at the moment so we are all shattered. if you can enforce some bed rest during the day, it willhelp. I have just ordered a couple of box sets to make myself stop and watch. Also, ive been using ear plugs and kipping in the spare room, both of which have helped somewhat, managed 1am til 6.30 last night, best sleep for a while. You dont wanna go into labour exhausted....that happened to me last time and it didnt help.
