Please come and talk me out of my totally unfounded notion that this might be twins?

Ok, I'm clearly mental.

But

I've been feeling baby movements since 10 wks. Definitely movements and not wind. Second pregnancy so I know the difference now and it's distinct.

I'm very sick and vomity. And exhausted. Although I did have hg in my last pg, this feels somehow different.

I can't lie on my back at all. Makes me very lightheaded, like late pregnancy.

I have a bump (at not quite 12wks) despite losing significant weight due to the vomiting. Mil asked me ass suspicious yesterday if I was sure my dates are right as I looked 'massive'.

I keep dreaming twins.

I'm evidently mad. We've not had any fertility treatment and no twins in the fam. Talk me out of this nonsense please!

I have twins, didn't suffer any of those symptoms you are describing, didn't find out til 18 week scan. But, we also, didn't have twins in our family, I have identical ones, which as far as I know don't have any genetic connection, being one egg and one sperm.

Could you get the midwife to listen to see if she can hear two heartbeats? This is how mine were discovered, albeit with a very experienced midwife. When are you having a scan?

I was sure my last one was twins.

I felt sick. And knackered. People were coming up to me at 15/16 weeks pregnant (at Christmas) and saying, 'Are you due any day?' and I was snapping, 'No. End of May. Now fuck off!' Grin

I have twins in my family. Granny had twins. Ggran had twins. I was an older mum (so chances were higher). DH has twin siblings. His sister has twin boys. Everybody was saying, 'Yep. Twins for definite'.

And it wasn't. So you might just have the one!

Ha ha thanks ladies! Scan on Friday (12 wk) so we will know then I guess. I'm signed off work with hg so I have too much time to think, I think :)

I was sure my boy was twins, was massive from the day I took the test and even though it was my 2nd I didn't expect to just balloon straight away. There's a family history, I was sick as a dog, and (I thought this was the most telling sign), I played monopoly with my daughter and kept rolling doubles over and over again! But it was just one baby, thankfully, because now he's 8 months I couldn't imagine having two of him! You'll just have to wait for the scan.....!

LeChatRouge · 19/02/2013 22:42

Well, you never know. I absolutely manifested mine, I really wanted them. I pictured my life with them, being pregnant, giving birth, them as babies, toddlers, at school etc..... I was so delighted when I found out. They are very lovely, going to turn 19 in less than two months.

So, scan Friday, will you let us know?!

BelleEtLaBaby · 19/02/2013 23:50

Ha ha, I will :)

I think I'll be MN-ing on my phone from A&E where they will be reviving dh if it does turn out to be twins, though :)

Congratulations! I am sure that people get to the point of adoring their DTs and couldn't imagine a life without twins, but it would really scare me to be told I was having twins. Even moreso now that I know what life is like with one baby.

BelleEtLaBaby · 23/02/2013 22:04

I won't lie: I'm relieved. My best friend has twins, and it looks like a lot of hard work! And that's without having a 2yo as well! We would have managed I'm sure, but I did have a little 'phew' when she confirmed a singleton!
