Hi all just a tad confused and worried im.gonna have a rather large baby.

I thought at 20wks the top of ur womb was supposed to be sort of inline with your belly button? But have been feeling around for mine and i defo feel the top of.my womb atleast.4cm above that.

Its defo up there as in the space.between my belly.button and where im feeling the top.of my womb is where i have been feeling the baby kick the last couple of days.

So does this mean he/she is bigger than supposed to be or cud it.mean he just has more space ?

This is my second pregnancy btw

Hi

I'm a sonographer and at 20 week scans women often ask where womb is and there is massive variation, if anything I'd say more are above belly button to be honest! Plus it's not as if everyone's bellybutton in same place so it's not an exact science x

Ahh i see thank you muffins was starting to think was gonna have a heffalump Smile
Because everywhere i read said it should be inline with belly button at this stage.

Mines at the bellybutton now, I'm 15+4. Mines always been quite large, I could feel it above pubic bone at 8wk when sites were saying it only rises out at 12. And it was definatly my womb lol this is my 3rd baby so I know that feeling all too well. I think its just different for everyone, torso differnce from person to person should obviously affect were the womb is on the tummy too. :) don't worry xx

Don't be silly, its because everything we read always seems so textbook. And regarding fundal height I've also read will be at your belly button now so we just think ohh dear. But I don't think many pregnancys are textbook tbh. Have you had your 20wk scan yet? X

This is really interesting - when I had my 16 week check I was really surprised at how low down mine was, barely an inch above stubble point on bikini line (forgive the tmi, altho I suspect I am possibly hairier than most) - some 3-4 inches below belly button.

I told the midwife I was surprised by how low it was and she just looked at me all Hmm and said 'well you're only 16 weeks!'

It has definitely moved up now, though still a good inch or two below belly button - at least, it's comfortably below after going to the loo... if I need to go for a while, the fundus is much much higher, which is understandable really!

I also have a very long waist, so tummy button to bits measurement is probably longer on me than most people (tis murder getting anything but hipsters to fit) so may bear this in mind going forward!
