pregnant and partner has shingles ..... am I.in danger ?

I am 8weeks PG and am suffering from hg.. Dp has just been diagnosed with shingles and has been signed off worked for a week . And forbidden to go in . I am worried that me and embryo are in danger? Altho I hve had chicken pox as a child , Also have 2 year old who has shown no simptom so far of chicken pox.

You can catch chickenpox from someone with shingles. However, if you have had chickenpox you will be immune and the baby fine. If there is any doubt as to your immunity then see your GP - they can check your immunity with a simple blood test and hopefully put your mind at rest.

You can't catch shingles. And as long as you've had CP before, you won't get CP from it either. Anyone who has had CP in the past can get shingles at a later date. Your 2 year old is at risk of catching CP from it but if your DP can keep the rash covered, then the risk is minimal.

FWIW, I had shingles while pregnant (at about 18/19 weeks). The antiviral medication is deemed safe in pregnancy and it certainly appears to have done my strapping 7.5 month old no harm at all. I had shingles again a few months ago (yes, twice in ine year...I truly have a shit immune system) and spoke to the Doctor about the risk of DC catching CP from me. I kept the blisters covered and took the meds and DC didn't catch CP.
