Good Travel Insurance

Hello ladies

I'll be travelling to the US in April and I need to get our travel insurance sorted. All being well, I'll be approx 14 weeks at that point. It has taken us ages to conceive and I didn't expect to be travelling pregnant.

Can anyone recommend a good quality policy for pregnant ladies and their partner? Is a special policy the best thing or can a decent policy normally do the trick? I live in the UK.

I'm starting to stress about it so any suggestions most appreciated. Thanks!

I went to New York for New Year just gone when I was 14 weeks.

I shopped around and found AXA's travel insurance was very comprehensive and covered everything I wanted it to for my low-risk pregnancy. It wasn't cheap though, about £70 for 6 days, but I really didn't want to travel to the US without feeling I was properly covered.

Luckily I never needed my policy, but I saw a poster on MN saying they had claimed on an AXA policy for a pregnancy-related medical problem while abroad and had found them very easy to deal with.

It obviously goes without saying that you should buy a policy ASAP in case you get any complication between now and April which mean you can't travel. A good policy should reimburse the cost of your trip if that happens so long as you buy it now.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and have a good trip! Smile

Rache1s thanks so much for taking the time to reply. That's really helpful info and I'll give them a call tomorrow. I know, I really need to get it sorted asap...

We are off to New York too! Hope you had an amazing trip.

Thanks for your kind wishes.
