How many clothes to pack for babys hospital bag?

I'm so clueless about how many to pack, I've put in 3x vests, 3x babygrows, 2 cardigans, 2x hats and 2x mitts.

Does that sound enough? How quickly are they dressed after birth? am I likely to have to change her when she poos?

I appreciate it depends how long we're in but I'm assuming I'll be out within the day, the mw said as long as they've fed, wee'd and poo'd they don't keep you in and is often around 6 hour discharge.

Just stick an extra 2 vests and baby grows in, you can always send out for more if needed x

I have baby's small bag with first outfit and two changes of clothes so 3x babygrow and 3x vests. I then have other clothes a coat, and a cardigan and some 0-3 things in my larger (after birth) bag.

We had to stay in three nights after dd1 was born as I had a catheter. Normal ish birth but I wouldn't have felt safe to leave after 6 hours. Dd was born at 7pm and I didn't feel OK until the following morning. I am taking far less this time but still enough for at least one night in hospital.

I was in and out in 6 hours so 1 change was enough, you could always keep spare in the car just incase. That way you haven't got too much stuff to carry around the hospital and back to carSmile

I went to an open evening at the hospital last night and they told me just one set of clothes for going home in, assume they dress them in hospital things when there? I don't know, will probably take two sets just in case!
