Confused about bouncers!

Hi everyone. I've been looking at bouncers to buy for our LO and have just become stuck. Found a lovely one that plays music, looks nice and vibrates for £60. Is that steep? Seen others for around £25 with less gadgets. Just not sure what to do! Any help appreciated!

Seen some quite good deals on kiddicare with ones that go from birth right through to toddler but that seems quite a high expectation to have of a bouncer /: who knows, I'm a first timer lol.

Start with a cheap but sturdy one or borrow one first to see if LO likes it. Ds1 loved his but dses 2 and 3 never took to it. You really don't need a vibrating musical one - the tinny tunes will drive you msd in a matter of minutes. A radio or whatever is just as good and you get to pick the tunes.

I've got a vibrating one from mamas and papas for £20! It doesn't play music but got it mainly for it to be able to sit up and have a nosy. I can always take the music player off it's gym if needs be! I personally think £60 is quite steep.

we have one as ds LOVES to be bounced. at one point he insisted on being bounced every waking hour and he's not a day napper

bought a vibrating one from mother care and, sods law, couldn't stand it. He's nearly 9 weeks now and am just able to pop him in it to nip for a wee/make a brew if I'm lucky

go for a cheapie or borrow one first. u can always sell on and replace with an all singing all dancing one if u wish/need.

A friend told me to get a babybjorn babysitter bouncer. She bought a cheap bouncer for about £30 and it couldn't be used after a few months, she then bought the babybjorn and said it was her best baby purchase. It's supposed to last until 2yrs, has various positions, is good for weaning, good for colic, good for when you need to be hands free, folds flat and is very light so can be taken anywhere. The only problem is the price (dont ask!) I've just bought one in the kiddiecare sale.

I spent ages deliberating this when pregnant with DC1. Ended up buying (at what I thought was extortionate cost £80) a babysitter balance which doesn't even vibrate never mind play music!

One of my best purchases. Easy to put baby in and out, when they kick their legs the chair bounces, which my baby loved. Very easy to wash. Stores flat so good for taking away with you. Good for young babies (i used from 4 weeks). Supposedly good up until 2 years, but in reality with a 98th centile active baby we stopped using at about 10/11 months when he could climb out. DS was a very difficult baby and screamed pretty much everywhere (cot/car/moses basket etc) but he always managed at least a short time in this. Money very well spent for us.

Hold value well too so easy to sell on after, or you could get one second hand as they're so easy to wash.

Agree with everyone else though, borrow one if you can.

Also, we had an extra one (borrowed, or would have bought a cheapy) for in the bathroom upstairs, so there was somewhere to put, and later contain, him when I had a shower. Much better than having to go and get the one from downstairs all the time.

Whichever one you get, ignore what the package says, none of them induce sleep

Washable with adjustable angle were on my list.

Babybjorn is on my list of things to buy for DC2.
We tried a basic one and a more fancy one with DD and none of the extra features were worth it imo.

Most important factor for us this time is a removable washable cover.

totally depends on the baby I'm afraid - my 8 week old is currently fast asleep in this one Tiny love seat - complete with vibration! It's the only thing he'll sleep in during the day (and thankfully he doesn't seem to need the vibration at night) - I know DS1 would have hated it but this one loves it - neither of them liked the music and lights.... though they both loved a little noise machine that has different white noises.... no two babies are the same! If I were you I'd probably wait until after I had the baby and see what works for your baby - hopefully it will save you some money!

Another lover of the BabyBjorn Bouncer here. DD went into it at three weeks and we're still getting great use out of it at 9.5mos. It was invaluable. She's perfectly happy to sit in it for short periods while I have a shower/prepare her food. My friends and I call it the magic chair (I've just totally outed myself if any of them read this....)

I had a Fisher Price birth-toddler rocker chair (which is just about to be used for 4th child) and they all loved it.

It has solid legs and a rocking base instead of being springy, reclining seat, kick stand to steady it, vibrating seat and a toy bar.

My DS used it from birth-3 years although not strapped in after 12 months he would just sit in it and read :)

I'm planning to get a Babybjorn too, don't want baby to get in to a habit of being rocked all the time.

I've only ever had the basic ones with no vibrations/music. Always been fine and they don't last very long

I had a basic one last time, stopped using it at 5 months when my son pulled it over o to himself but fond it essential to put him somewhere when I nipped to the loo or was cooking, have bought a baby bjorn one this time, tried to pick one up off eBay and found they were going or about £60 not including p & p, I got one from kiddicare to for £80 which seems like a bargain if I can sell it on eBay when we are done with it.

My son (20 months) instantly sat in it when I unpacked it and has pulled it out o few times since, had to explain to him it's for the new baby and he is a big boy now! Not sure he gets it, thnk he is I. For a shock when the new baby arrives.

Another vote for the babybjorn. DS wasn't a heavy baby but even from birth his movements rocked it. Since I went back to work when he was 12 months we've used it every morning - I put him in it with his bottle while I have a shower. At 18 months he's very nearly out of it but it was worth every penny - paid £50 on ebay.

I got a fisher price one from a nearly new sale for a fiver. It vibrated and played a tune. Baby hated vibration and the tune. He just liked to bounce! Glad I didn't pay a fortune.

Keep a good eye out for bargains. I got this one on Amazon a few weeks ago for £23, when they were selling it for £42 in Mothercare. Happy with the price but beware the number of batteries the vibrating musical ones require

We got a vibrating bouncer from mothercare which was about £50 - good but not won't be used for nearly as long.
