Still waiting for booking in appointment...

I'm 9 weeks. Saw the GP at 6 weeks and have an appointment at the hospital for a scan date. However, first time around I had a community midwife come to my house around 8 weeks to book me in, and I had to take my antenatal notes to my first scan from then.

I've called the GP and she advised me that I wouldn't get my booking in appointment until after my scan - I'm a bit bemused as to why it's this way around. Anyone else have their scan first before any details at all or bloods were collected? I'll turn up for the scan and they'll literally no nothing about me!

This doesn't sound right to me. Could you get the number for your local community midwives' office and see what they say?

I agree, that's not the usual way of things. I'd phone the midwives direct and ask. I was booked in by midwives at 7 weeks and 8 weeks with each pregnancy. Mind you I didn't see a gp at all!

Hmm. I tried the community midwives office but the service is terrible, and was first time around. I have left countless messages on their voicemail over the last week and nobody ever calls back. I guess I'll keep trying, but something does seem awry, not sure what to try next!!

I didn't see the GP at all either, I just made an appointment at the surgery for a booking-in appointment and made my nuchal scan booking myself. Is your scan a nuchal one or a dating one?

I had it that way round twice. Once because my midwife was off sick and the midwife from the other dr surgery who was trying to do 2 peoples jobs asked me nicely if I minded. The other one was because I'd had a previous miscarriage and I didn't want to see a midwife and talk about the pregnancy when I didn't know if the baby was alive or not. Both times it was fine and nobody at either scan minded that I didn't have any notes.

The scan is a combined one I think. I'm just not sure who will give me the antenatal notes this time, will I get that at the scan or later, the first time I do actually see a midwife? Thanks all.

if you are worried about anemia i would ring your gp surgery and ask for another gp if you can, tell them you just found out your pg, you,re feeling weak and dizzy/tired all the time and you would like your blood count checked. they shouldnt have any objections to that. at my surgery, am registered with the practice but not any particular gp though i can request whomever i want, usually i ring first thing in morn if i need something or to speak to gp urgently. as im pg its no hassle, duty doc rings me back shortly after and sorts me out no problem.
i had rung 3-4 weeks back as feeling same, weak/dizzy/tired and wanted blood count checked. had expected just to be sent to treatment nurse for it but duty doc insisted i came in to see the gp first due to severe sickness. so far they have been very good.
