Baby measuring a week small

Had my first hospital scan last Tuesday and something has been on my mind since.

On 30th Jan I had a private scan as DH brother was emigrating and we wanted to tell family before he went and wanted the scan to be sure all was ok before we told. Baby was measuring 13+2 which was exactly right

Had first hospital scan on 12th Feb when I should have been 15+2 but I was measuring 14+4. The person scanning me wasn't worried and I'm not due to have another scan. (I'm in Ireland, things are slightly different here). I'm not due back to the hospital until 32 weeks although I'm having monthly GP appointments.

Is this anything to worry about? I'm guessing not but first baby and its all new.

Our little one was small in the first scan and bump measurements (not even on the growth chart) now, at 32 weeks she has caught up and has exceeded what they originally predicted (she is expected to be around 8lb, not so small! Hmm). Could you chat to your GP to put your mind at rest?

Are you totally positive there isn't a scan at about 20 weeks for anatomy? What hospital are you doing this out of? The Rotunda in Dublin does a scan at 20/22 weeks Im sure.

I wouldn't worry about a week small at this early stage either.

Thanks all. I got the impression it was nothing to worry about but it was playing on my mind.

mixxy I'm in Tralee, there's no anomaly scan as standard. Only if there's a reason.

I'm wondering how the hell they would establish a need or a reason for an anatomy scan helga? Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the size at all. Very early and early growth differs quite a lot between people.

I'm from Dublin but I live in NYC. My sister had all her kids at the Rotunda and Im scratching my head as to why the health boards would differ.

Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy!
