Just something silly to see if my mw is right.

Did you know your babies heart rate near the end, if so please tell me and if your baby is a boy/girl.

Thanks

All 3 of mine were about the same: 145-150.

I had 2 boys and 1 girl.

Sorry. :)

cordobagirl · 28/04/2006 17:41

I didn't know about the apparent difference in heartbeats with my 2 DDS, so never paid much attention to the number of beats. With DS it was 140.

pooka · 28/04/2006 18:12

ds - about 130
dd - about 150 to 160.
So the old wives' tale worked for me!

cupcakes · 28/04/2006 18:17

don't know what mine was but midwife was convinced it was a girl (as high) and she was right. Everyone else thought I was having a girl.

lovecloud · 28/04/2006 19:16

very interesting

mine the other day at mw app was 128 - 140bpm so I'll let you know if it is a boy or not...

exciting!

not fussed either way but just want to see as GP said its a load of rubbish and mw swears by it

so we'll see...

It's tosh. This one had a 'boy' heartbeat.

It's a girl!

zippitrippitoes · 28/04/2006 19:31

threads which are not what they at first appear

I thought this was going to be some report about the dangers of sex in pregnancy increasing baby's heart rate Grin

ionaming · 28/04/2006 22:56

my midwife said if heart rate consistently above 140 (in 3rd trimester) then likely to be a girl..... we were usually measuring around the 160 mark.....and it was a girl. So old wives' tale true for me too :)

Elf1981 · 28/04/2006 23:37

dd's was always about 160 - 170 when I went in for monitoring. I didn't know she would be a girl, but the old wives tale was right for me.
Same as SIL - she didn't find out the sex but m/w said fast heartrate indicated she was having a girl (which she did)!

Ledodgyherring · 28/04/2006 23:55

my dd was 160ish my ds was 140ish.

lovecloud · 29/04/2006 09:18

Looks like this old wives tale really does have something in it save for a few exceptions.

eidsvold · 29/04/2006 10:01

did not work for me with dd2 - her heart rate was consistently whatever it is for boys - to the extent the GP asked me if I knew the old wives tale and I went and looked it up... can't remember what it was but dd2 was consistently male in her heartbeat...

ghosty · 29/04/2006 10:17

DS and DD both consistently between 150 and 160 - Must be an old wives tale, bit like that 'have sex just before ovulation and it's a girl OR have sex on or after ovulation and it's a boy' - load of rubbish Smile

Seashells · 29/04/2006 10:21

150-155 and I know I'm having a girl.

BigHotMama · 29/04/2006 13:14

My midwife told me she thinks I'm having a girl due to heartrate of 150bpm, but everyone looks at my bump and says its a boy! Got 14 weeks to see if she was right! Grin

TuttiFrutti · 29/04/2006 13:24

My ds consistently had the heartbeat of a girl. The midwife when I went in to be induced even referred to the baby as "she" after listening to the heartbeat.

PiccadillyCircus · 29/04/2006 13:26

DS - about 150-160.
DD - about 130.

So both "wrong" Grin. With DD I had an apoointment the day before she was born, and from her heartbeat, the midwife felt sure enough she was a boy to be saying that two boys would be easier than a boy and a girl Smile.

(I like having DD by the way :))

Twiglett · 29/04/2006 13:28

DS constantly in the 160s

DD constantly around 140s

this is supposed to be wrong according to old wive's tales (PMSL wrote tails to begin with .. wag wag(

lovecloud · 29/04/2006 17:56

ah you last lot have ruined it for me :)... only joking!
