has anyone taken drugs for morning sickness, what did you think?

My doctor has proscribed me Metoclopramid 10g to help my morning sickness.

I am vomiting every morning and in the night if I am awake too long - and feeling sick for most of the day (unless I have just eaten!). It is worse than with DD1 when I was sick until approx week 20 (I am week 13 now)

I can see from google that it won´t hurt the baby but not sure if it´s going to help me!

Has anyone any experiences they can share?

I got stemitil. It reduced the number of times I was sick and with time eased the nausea slightly.

I am still being sick at 21wks but alot better than I was!

They do make me more tired but I couldn't do anything without them. With them, some days, I could do things.

Yes I have been taking cyclazine since week 7, currently 31 weeks. Baby appears to be fine. Would not have been able to continue pregnancy without it. In the early stages up to week 17 the meds helped me keep fluids down and kept me out of hospital but I was still sick a lot. Tried other meds was no better so agreed with dr to stick with cyclazine as considered safer. By 22 weeks stopped being sick and managed to cut out 1 of my 3 per day tablets. Even now have to take 2 a day. You just have to weigh up the risk v benefit...for me I didn't have much choice. You will feel better soon!

I was in cyclazine from week 7 to week 13. It wasn't earth shatteringly brilliant in that I still felt awful and still vomited regularly, but I was able to keep some food down and more importantly fluids. My sickness has been much better since the first tri (now 35 weeks). I vomit some evenings but am okay the rest of the time.

I was on cyclizine from about week 6-14. It was by no means a miracle drug, but took the edge off so I could actually function and perform some essential tasks. I only took 1 tablet a day as it made me so drowsy I wouldn't be good for anything if I took more, bit of a tradeoff really!

I tried cyclizine for a fortnight from weeks 6-8 but it didn't work too well, and then went on to stemetil which I took until the day the baby was born. She's absolutely fine. I still threw up 2-4 times a day on stemetil, but that was down from 6-10 times a day so it was enough of an improvement to get on with life!

There are other types of medication so if this one isn't suiting you, ask to try another type. But as far as anyone is aware there are no side effects for the baby. Obviously I'm not a doctor, but there are plenty of women on MN who have been on this medication their entire pregnancy and have healthy babies.

I too am on metoclopramide and although it hasn't stopped all the sickness or nausea I'm pretty sure I'd be a lot worse without it! I've been on it since about wk 6 and I'm now 24 - all is fine with bubs so far, even with other added problems.
GP keeps telling me that's its better to take the mess than be constantly sick and get nothing to baby.

I was prescribed stemitel but it did nothing, then I had metoclopromide and I am still not sure if it helped as I was that scared to stop taking it as I felt so ill and thought if I stopped I could get even worse! I did stop eventually when the sickness eased but took it for about 6/7 weeks 3 times a day (max dose). I am now 36 weeks and so far everything is fine - scan at 34 weeks shows healthy, head down, growing baby.

I can't remember the names one the two I tried but neither of them worked. Its hard to say weather they had any effect at all but I was too scared to stop taking them. I was still sick several times a day & felt sick constantly.
dcs were fine though.

I've been on them all during this pg, stemetil, metoclopramide, cyclizine and ondansetron. I'm still taking the latter two. Baby appears to be absolutely fine so far at 30 weeks.

I took odansetron. It really helped me but gave me terrible constipation.

i was given promethizine which has def helped reduce sickness, am able to eat and drink so much better. ive lost around 10lb since i found out im pg. last week i was down to being sick once or twice first thing, however, i ran out of tablets at weekend, last one was saturday morn, was really ill by last night and i havent stopped puking today. tried sipping juice but its straight back up. :( doc will have a new batch ready for me at 2pm. roll on 2pm.

I was prescribed promethazine, I think it worked a little bit, BUT I couldn't take it during the day because it knocked me out better than any sleeping pill I've ever used! So while it did help the sickness, it was useless in that I could only take it when I was planning to sleep anyway.
