Period Pains @ 22 weeks

Hi ladies,
I normally lurk but now really need some advice.

I am 22 weeks and feel like I have had period pain/cramps from this morning. I have had round ligament pain before and am used to it after sudden movements.

This pain is different and is not linked to when I move. I have been sitting down and the pain is just as bad.

I am not dehydrated.

Not sure what I should do. This pain feels just like period cramps/pains.
Should I be worried? I did a quick google and some people said they had the same thing and it was preterm labour Shock

Anyone had the same thing? Any advice?

Call your midwife now.

ExpatAl · 13/02/2013 16:18

Sorry to be so abrupt. It's probably nothing but if it is you need to be seen asap. Hope you're on the phone to your mw and not seeing this...

Guntie · 13/02/2013 16:27

Thanks expat I have called them and are waiting for them to call me back. I hope its nothing serious Sad

It could just be a uti so don't panic. The main thing is that you acted quickly.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for the call. Best of luck.

The MW called me back and said to call my GP and try to get an appointment to see if it is a UTI. My doctor doesn't have any appointments till next week. Not really sure what to do..

She said to call the labour ward if I thought my waters had broke. (God forbid).

Other than that not sure what to do really. Sigh.

At my surgery they would allow me to drop by with a sample and the duty Dr would test, can't believe under these circumstances you'd have to wait - did you say on the phone you were told to see GP? If you really can't see them today, I'd call labour ward as they may want to see you to test a sample. UTIs need sorting ASAP as if left untreated can lead to preterm labour. Definitely either call the surgery back or the labour ward. Keep us posted!

I would go to the labour ward Guntie so they can test there and then and if needs be monitor you. Can you do that in the UK?

LadyKinbote · 13/02/2013 19:06

I agree, try to see someone now just to be on the safe side. Don't be terribly British and talk it down - now is the time to make a fuss!

looneytune · 13/02/2013 21:22

Did you get seen in the end OP? x

Guntie · 14/02/2013 10:34

Thanks everyone! I got seen and it was a UTI. I have antibiotics now and am feeling much better today. Thanks for your help Thanks

Great news! Have to say I'm not impressed with your mw and GP being so slack in testing you. Glad you're feeling better.

Guntie · 14/02/2013 16:31

I know expat that's part of the reason why I didn't call in the first place. I knew it would just be met with a "meh". Thanks for prompting me to push for the test :-)
