Panic attacks in 3rd trimester

Hello

I'm 32+4 with PFB. Due to some pretty stressful circumstances I had my first panic attack in 3 years yesterday. I've only had about 4 in my life so they're pretty rare. I'm worried about what effect this will have on LO, she has still been kicking and such but I can't stop worrying. The situation hasn't exactly resolved itself so I'm still quite on edge, and it wouldn't surprise me if I had another one. Also I've become terrified of stillbirth so am generally a walking pile of anxiety at the moment. As a mental health nurse you'd think I'd be able to reassure myself but pregnancy is quite out of my comfort zone.

Has anyone else experienced panic attacks during their pregnancy? Was your baby ok and what, if anything helped?

I've had 4 panic attacks in this pregnancy, 2 in the 2nd trimester, 2 in the 3rd. Hospitalized for 3 of them. I'm 39 +2. Baby is fine so far as they can tell. Heart rate fine etc.

I expect to have another before or during labor ( my anxiety stems from not knowing I was pregnant until 7 weeks and had been drinking heavily before then). As my delivery approaches I worry more and more about FAS. Nothing can calm me down.

I don't have any tips as nothing has helped me stay calm. DH is wonderful and I try to rest as much as possible. Good luck.

I don't think panic attacks can harm your baby, they are a natural response after all, albeit not a very nice one! It is fairly well known that in some people pregnancy can bring on panic and anxiety, mainly due to the massive hormonal shifts that happen. Please try not to think that it's anything dreadful and speak to your midwife or GP for help and reassurance if you need it.

Hi, yes i have had a few in the last 3 weeks.

Im 29 weeks, 'D'P of 9 years has left me, & I have been really struggling to cope. Scared of being alone in childbirth & with the baby at home.

Maybe there is something herbal that might help us, Im open to any ideas x
