Are private scans ....private?

I am 15 weeks pregnant. If I went for a private scan, to find out sex of baby, do they inform the hospital where I go for regular scans/care?

Twitchytail. Thank you for your quick response. Thinking of going for a scan to determine the sex of our baby. I am very anxious about the sex as my ds has Asd and I have read that if we have another boy the odds aren't in our favour. Not sure how true this is but need to find out so get used to the idea of another boy. Either sex is very much wanted but am very worried.

Just thought I'd add my reassurances. DH has aspergers syndrome and we have 3 boys. DS1 is a bit quirky but the younger 2 (aged 4 and 2) are showing no signs of ASD so far although all 3 have got hypermobility syndrome.

As a side tangent they may ask you sign the brief report with a disclaimer that you'll share the findings with your care provider - to try to absolve themselves of any ongoing responsibility for potentially significant things though! Happy to take the £££s, but... Wink

they do say the risk is higher but i dont think it proven - my ds1 has ASD, and ds2 is showing no signs of being the same ... in fact he the complete opposite

also scans - when i had a 4d one they never had my notes, they just gave me the info (pics, dvd, etc)

I had a private dating scan because my NHS one was very delayed (I finally had it at 16wks), The scan was kept private and I did not tell my midwife about it incase she decided I didn't need my NHS dating scan!

Also my DS1 has ASD so I know what its like to be worrying, so far my DS2 who is 16 months is showing no signs but I still worry and I think I will continue to worry untill he reaches about 2yrs and I will be able to tell for sure. I am now 17wks with DS3 and yes I do worry and I know once this baby arrives the worrying/wondering will start all over again like I have done/do with DS2.
So just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! Smile
