My NOSE!!!

OK, I'm sure that this is a ridiculous question, but my nose is either horrifically bunged up or running like Linford Christie - there's been no respite for a week and it's driving me crackers!!!

I don't have a cold, I don't have any other allergic reaction symptoms (sore eyes, itchy skin etc) but I am 13+3 weeks pregnant - are my nose and my pregnancy connected?! (see told you it was a ridiculous question!!)

Yes indeed, very connected. I'm currently having a bunged up day.

Kilkers · 07/02/2013 10:46

Hi Ewok, very common unfortunately...

I am 10 weeks and the same. I have to blow my nose first thing every morning and about 3 times at that, shame we can't take Sudafed!

Havingkittens · 07/02/2013 11:07

Yep, pregnancy rhinitis. I had it too. It seemed to improve around 20 weeks or so for me, but some people have it all the way through but it does clear up as soon as you have the baby. It was the first sign for me that I was pregnant actually, before I even took a test! Mine isn't bunged up anymore but it does run like a tap when I'm outside and I have fairly frequent nosebleeds.

EwokStorageUnit · 07/02/2013 11:50

Oh dear, maybe not such a ridiculous question then! Shock

I get rid of the sickness and now I can't breathe!

We shall battle through this Grin

Yup, had this until 24ish weeks. So annoying. Mine was like minor hayfever. Dry air (ie central heating) doesn't help either... Mw said I could use nasal sprays (eg pirinase), but I think I found a saline nasal spray more helpful iirc.

Unlurked · 07/02/2013 12:44

I had it all the way through both pregnancies and frequent nose bleeds too! Stopped as soon as I had the dcs.

rosiedays · 07/02/2013 14:46

I sneeze all day! in bouts of about 5/6 sneezes an hour!!! have done since 14 weeks! worst thing is Bladder is NOT behaving..... Thinking of changing nickname to TENA LADY!!! LOL

BraveLilBear · 07/02/2013 17:56

Me too - Get it most nights, and worst thing is if I get that blocked up feeling, the catarrh makes me sick in the morning. Yummy.

Apparently it's to do with increased blood flow swelling nasal passages or somehting - I'm sure I read that somewhere...

Mawgatron · 07/02/2013 18:58

Ditto! Blocked up all the way here too!

smaths · 07/02/2013 19:08

Yep! Stuffed up nose here too, like bravelilbear I'm finding the catarrh in the morning makes me gag loads, resulting in 5 mins of lovely hawking and retching when I get up.

LouiseD29 · 07/02/2013 19:26

Yep, I've had very blocked up nose and endless colds since I found out - am now 13+5. This one's juuuust starting to clear up - I'm hoping that's the end of it!!!

Coleminer · 07/02/2013 22:06

It's called rhinitis and is common. Mine went at around 14 weeks if my memory serves me right.
