Thrush during first trimester

I found out I was pregnant after taking trimethoprim (which is very worrying in itself) but now I think I have developed thrush from the antibiotics. Is it harmful to baby or is it ok to let it just go on its own (I've had it before and actually just used natural yogurt which worked wonders, not sure if this is a safe method while pregnant).
Advise would be great x

I don't think there's any harm to letting it go on its own,you might find its more the case of will it go on its own. Thrush can be really persistent in pregnancy. I've been using the canesten pessary without the applicator & Dr has been prescribing a week's worth, which is the only thing that's shifted it. I don't think Nat yog would be harmful,I think its just the method of application you have to be careful with. Hope you get rid of it soon, its miserable isn't it.

I've had persistent thrush all the way through this pregnancy (now 34 wks) - I get through a Canestan Duo about once a fortnight. At least it's free! Also the new gel pessary is much more comfortable than the old tablet kind. Just use it without the applicator.

I thought the Duo was oral tablet + cream? Although just saw you mentioned gel pessary so obviously not, d'oh! Just wanted to say oral tablet not recommended in pregnancy.

Oh no it can last throughout the pregnancy that is not fun. I'll try to see if it will go alone before I try anything, thanks for the advice xx

loves you're probably right - maybe it's the Combi I mean. In any case, the one with the pessary and the cream.

Counter-intuitively, I've found that hot baths with bubble bath (espec Sanctuary stuff!) really help. Bizarre, because hot baths are supposed to be one of the things that gives you thrush.
