Rib Flare?

For the last few weeks I've been getting a burning, tender feeling under my ribs at the top of my bump (I'm 31+3 with DC2). It starts when I've been on my feet and lasts until I go to bed.

I think it might be rib flare, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone have any ideas how I can help it? Or what else it might be? Mentioned it to MW who just said it's common.

I'm sure it's not PE. I'm being closely monitored for that because I developed it last time. On thrice-weekly BP checks and it's ok. No protein and Doppler scans good.

Please help, I'm in agony!

No advice just sympathy. Had this with ds. Was agony and could not bear to wear a bra many days - not a good look on a heavily pregnant woman! Lucky went as soon as he was born or even before. Now 15 weeks and dreading it happening again. Good luck

I have pain on my lower right ribs. Am 30 weeks.

Again mentioned to midwife who was unconcerned.

You have my sympathies. I find mine is worse when I'm crunched up or curled up so that side is "shorter" ifkwim.

Because of that I find stretching that side out helps a lot.

I had a very similar thing and MW seemed to write it off as 'just one of those things you need to tolerate'. Was having to get my bra off the minute I got in from work every day and was reduced to tears by the pain several times. Slept with a hot water bottle on m ribs every night which gave some relief. I also had some treatment from an osteopath who helped a bit by stretching me out from above and recommending some stretches to do at home.

Then suddenly at about 30 weeks, it just stopped hurting out of the blue! Must have had it for about 8 weeks before then.
Try the hw bottle as a start and stretching out maybe against a wall, or getting your partner to stretch your arms above your head when you are sitting.
Good luck x

Interesting what's been said about painful bras as mine has been painful on that side but I hadnt linked the two as its higher up.

Oh it's a glamorous time of our lived isn't it?!
