Bump getting hard and staying hard for more than 10 minutes

I'm 39+2 weeks and have had two sweeps so far. I'm therefore on alert for any labour symptoms. Since last night I've been having more of what I assume are Braxton Hicks where my bump tightens. What is different is that the bump stays hard for ages, sometimes for 10-15 minutes. Anyone ever heard of/ experienced this?

Yep, up to an hour at times with DS. Started v early this time with strong long BH's from 26 weeks. I'm 30+2 now and counting...
Freaked me out the first time, had no idea BH's could last that long but midwife was very reassuring. DS still managed to be overdue (40+13) I'm afraid to say.
Certainly normal IME.

Definitely braxton hicks. Had one when with my midwife who explained it was your body getting ready (also had them from about 30 weeks). Mine got really close together just before labour started.

Thanks. Sounds normal and I like I've got just enough time for another "oh my god I'm going to be a parent" freak out!

Might go and check the bags one more time though!

Sounds like BH. But good luck with it all, hope all goes well. Xxx

Ha! I still get those 'oh my god I'm a parent' freak out nearly 3 years on.

Good luck, labour is not so bad and when it's over you'll have someone who you'll love more than you ever thought you were capable of - and who will feel the same way about you.
