I emailed them my self referral form yesterday and this morning got a pack with my midwife appointment and ultrasound scan. I wasn't expecting that.

Do you live in their catchment area Cru?

I've found them amazingly efficient too. E.g. results of 12wk scan/ bloods (through post) w/in about 36 hrs. If midwife says she's going to call with antenatal class booking, she really does, etc.

WhatKaty - no, I'm closer to the Whittington but I think you can go to any hospital you want. It's easier for me to get to UCLH for appointments from where I work.

Just you wait till they book you a 45 week appointment :) nah they're really good so far apart from that..

I got my post-dates scan appointment from UCLH in the post the other day. I'm 35 weeks. Love the 'just in case' efficiency!

Ah ok, thanks Cru. I don't live in the area but I had my DD there and it was such a great hospital that I am already plotting how to go back for my yet-to-be-conceived second! Sounds like self-referral is the way forward.

I had DD2 last week in UCLH. Had DD1 in the Whit & had quite a bad experience.
DD2 was completely different & I can't praise the MW & UCLH enough.
I was induced at 42 weeks & everything was great. I got my own room to be induced in on labour ward. It was in triage at The Whit.
After DD2 was born she was put on my chest for at least 40 mins. The cord wasn't cut for a good 10 mins & we were just allowed to cuddle.
It's 10 days later & I'm still on a high Smile.

I'm sure other hospitals are great too; I've only given birth at UCLH so don't know much about others.

WhatKaty - if you google UCLH maternity self referral, there's a link to a form you can fill in and email to them.
