Hiya,

I'm sure this must have been posted before.....but my ankles have suddenly swelled up today, not too badly but I've not been that active today, even had a nap!

I've been feeling great but have a cold this week and have been travelling and working hard, including moving house (not lifting - DH did that).. Today I look quite puffy, still feel generally under the weather...and now the ankles!! Face bit puffy and hands.

So, when we talk about preeclampsia just how much swelling are we talking about? And other than the MW tests are there any other things I should look out for????

When is your next mw appointment, is it soon? And how many weeks gone are you?

I didn't have any symptoms other than swelling (and to be honest, it was the same swelling I'd had for a few weeks and my BP had been fine) when I had pre-eclampsia, it was picked up on a routine midwife appointment, but the other warning signs are things generally related to high blood pressure, like headaches, vision problems and a general feeling of being unwell.

If you're worried at all, contact your mw and ask for an appointment, they'll need to do a urine check to see if there is any protein in your urine and they'll need to check your blood pressure.

I had this a few weeks ago. Had a pretty active few weeks at work and suddenly got quite swollen on my day off, felt fine otherwise but there was no mistaking how tight my rings were!

Anyways I called the maternity triage and they told me to go down to my nearest delivery suite immediately. Once there they did a BP and urine test, ruled out pre-eclampsia and sent me back home, telling me to sit down more.

It was actually a really positive experience, and the midwives insisted that should I ever be worried about anything to call them again. They said they would rather see me 100 times and nothing be wrong, than the unthinkable alternative.

So if I were you, I would call a MW. They won't mind Smile

Thanks both... Im almost 38 weeks, Had my MW appt yesterday, blood pressure fine but don't think we did a pee test. I had no swelling yesterday though.

I think I'll pop in again tomorrow and get some rest!
