I honestly don't remember this with my first, but i had a teeny tiny bump, so that could explain why.
But i just can't stop eating, i'm SO hungry.
This morning i've had 2 wheetabix, orange juice and a decaf coffee. Then half a lemon curd sandwich, breadsticks, carrots and hummus, water and an apple. Then Monster munch and a peanutbutter chunky bar. And i'm just about to have corn on the cob and a yoghurt. I feel like the very hungry caterpillar!
I'm trying to eat sensible things (not too much sugar and fat, ignoring the monster munch and kit kat!) But i'm craving everything sweet.
Is this ok? Should i limit what i'm eating? And can anyone recommend some filling, vegetarian snacks to keep me going?

If you fancy sweet foods you could try things like bananas, pineapple, and other sweet fruits! Yogurts would also be a good option, which you could have with the fruit, if you dont cut up your fruit and instead bite piece off (like eating a whole apple not slices) it fills you up a bit more because you spend longer eating it.

I am exactly the same but desperate not to put on too much weight during this pregnancy. I am craving sweets and chocolate so am trying to replace with nuts/raisins and fruit. On the hummus as well - I like crackers with hummus or veg pate and sprouted beans and fresh peas are good for taking the edge off as well :) Let me know if you think of any more easy vege stuff :)

LOL - I posted a similar message at exactly the same time!

I've been absolutely starving! Maybe there's some other force at work today!

Like you, I'm trying to eat sensibly and trying to fill up on things that aren't sugary or fatty (and I LOVE Monster Munch and would kill for a packet right now!).

I packed a whole bag of fruit this morning and have picked up some dried fruit as well, nuts, trying to avoid white bread and have brown/wholemeal, as that allegedly keeps you fuller for longer... (the jury is out on that today!).

How about couscous cooked in orange juice with sultanas, red onions and a bit of spice (I have a recipe somewhere that is delicious, but I can't remember it all at the moment - if you like couscous let me know and I'll dig it out)?

Pasta with pesto and extra pine nuts and parmesan? hot or cold it's pretty tasty.

I'll keep thinking, because talking about food is making me even more hungry!

Yes me too! Much more hungry than usual/last preg. Could be helpful to eat protein and slow-release carbs, as they will make you feel full for longer. Especially if you drink water alongside them.

I just had a Starbucks latte and brownie... Blush

I found that having a big bowl of porridge for breakfast fills me up and stops me snacking between breakfast and lunch. I had weetabix this morning and I was still hungry.

I just find that fruit doesn't cut it- I want things that are substantial so I made some flapjack to have instead of chocolate, pistachio nuts instead of crisps (and if I do have crisps I go for the lower cal versions- liking wotsits and salt and vinegar chipsticks at the moment!). I also make my own cakes and biscuits which is probably a bad idea as they get eaten very quickly Wink

I've also been avoiding white bread and eat wholemeal (I don't think it makes me any fuller) but I'll have a massive sandwich at lunch time filled with lettuce, loads of avocado, tomatoes and cucumber so it feels like I'm eating more but it's still healthy. I put on loads of weight in my first pregnancy- over 5st Shock so I'm determined to not put on so much this time but I don't really remember eating loads the first time round so I may still end up putting on weight. I think it's just down to the individual and your build/metabolism but I feel better in myself when I eat well (and less guilty for not exercising...)

I am just the same. I would have replied sooner but after reading the first couple of posts I had to retreat to the kitchen to make humous and pitta. If only I had some Monster Munch to round off lunch #3!

Glad it's not just me then!

FLAPJACKS kitty you're a genius! I'm holding back from buying nutella as i could easily eat the whole jar with a spoon... or spread on digestives!
Egg mayo made with light mayo spread on seedy crackers or rivita is delish... perhaps with some tomato... and a few slices of dill pickle... mmm
Oooh, or cold spanish omelet.
I also make an awesome bean and lentil salad. I use canelini beans and green lentils from a tin, then add grated carrot, a little cheese, sliced grapes, tomato, cucumber and basically whatever else i have in the fridge and larder. I serve it with hummus, it makes me feel very worthy :)

oooooo, dribbling over the thought of homemade flapjacks!!!

Are cured meats acceptable? I even picked up little pickled gherkins on saturday, which I normally detest, but they do go well with cheese and I think that they'd be great with serrano or parma ham... Grin

guess what? I'm hungry again!
