Random pulse in belly - me, placenta or something else?

Sooo this is a strange one. The other day I was sat on a chair with my knees up, I suppose you could say in a foetal position, and I could feel a strange pulsing on the top of my legs from my lower abdomen.

It was slow, a very similar rate to my own (didn't check it), and keeps happening - I can often feel it if I'm lying on my back and just rest my hands below my belly button.

I'm 15 weeks by scan, with hardly any visible bump, so pretty sure it's not movements, and it's way too slow to be baby. Could this be my blood feeding the placenta? Could it be a random pulse that I've never felt before but has suddenly been shoved closer to the surface? Not bothering me, but I'm fascinated and intrigued all at once.

Anyone else or am I just a weirdo?!

I wonder about this too, I put it down to all the extra blood in my system. I did wonder if it was the placenta but it doesnt seem to be isolated to my stomach, if I lie perfectly still I can see my boobs pulsing!

I've got that too since about 17 weeks. I assumed it was the placenta too.

Just all the extra blood flow I think. I get it too at 11+4 when I lie on my back, keep trying to convince myself it's the baby kicking but it's too regular. Grin

Do you have an anterior placenta? I do and if I lie still and look at my bump I can see the bump pulsing.

It's your own pulse. There are several points in the body where you can feel your pulse (wrists, neck) and one of these is your tummy.

I know this because I once felt it in early 20s and TOTALLY freaked out that I might be pregnant so I looked it up!

Yep, it's you! It's your aortic artery, I get this (can feel and see it) when I'm lying down and I'm not even pregnant Confused

Glad it's not just me! Funny how I never felt this before. Maybe I'm just more aware of twinges and strange feelings now, or maybe it's a combo of extra blood in aorta plus it being a bit closer to the surface.
