What does this mean? Saw midwife as been having high BP and lots of horrible night sweats! Which have been told are hormones and stress! But she did a measurement and checked baby position and Im measuring 34 weeks, which im gathering will mean either big baby or dates wrong! seeing consultant next week so possible scan then, but my brain is on overload! Anyone in same boat?!!

These measurements are fairly inaccurate. I was measuring 3 weeks over last pg but DD was a very normal 7lb 7oz. This time I'm measuring 2 weeks over at 30 weeks.

My SIL is measuring 7 (!) weeks over and her MW hasn't even sent her for a scan - she said it's probably just the way she carries. I think it's dodgy they haven't done any extra scans/tests for such a big discrepancy.

Before Christmas I was measuring 3 weeks in front and a couple of weeks ago at 30 + 4 weeks I was measuring a week and a half in front. It doesn't mean anythings wrong, it could be you have lots of water or are a bit bloated or the baby's position is pushing your belly out further.

Also I've heard two different midwives can measure differently so it's not an exact science!

I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead and I'm 38 weeks, feeling huge! Had a couple of scans but everything is fine with the baby, they just keep saying he's going to be big!
I hope everything will be ok with you, I'm sure it will xx

Are you short? I'm tall and measured 3-4 weeks small. Baby was average size, just had more room in my abdomen so less of a bump!

marshkat · 29/01/2013 20:50

I'm nearly 6ft so don't think it is because there is not much room!! I'm trying not to stress to much, was signed of work today for a week as struggling so roll on next week when i see consultant!!

I measured big for my dates, had extra scans, saw a consultant and predicted an 11lb dc.
Dd weighed just over 8lb.

I was measuring 10 weeks ahead (!!) early in pregnancy - at 10 wks I measured 20... went for scan but just one baby and all fine. Now I am measuring around 4 weeks ahead and feel huge. I think some people are just like that - and having had previous pregnancies makes you bigger. I wouldn't worry xxx

I had a scan at 28 weeks for reasons unrelated to growth and the baby's measuring a couple of weeks ahead, as is my bump. The doctor said that they don't bother about 2 weeks either side, so 3 weeks over is a bit more but still not much (especially when it's a bump measurement which could be down to baby's lie or fluid levels).

You'll probably be sent for a growth scan where they'll take some measurements. Bear in mind that these are also not particularly accurate so it could mean a bigger baby or nothing at all!

My friend who was measuring 4 weeks over for the second half of her pregnancy gave birth to a baby under 7lbs at term and a colleague who was measuring small for dates throughout her pg had a 7.10lber, again at term... so it's not an exact science!
