I am 14 weeks and have bp of average 145/110 BMI 40 and experiencing prolonged headaches most days.
I am booked to see consultant on Wednesday and had scan today and all fine with baby but does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Can I do anything to ease the headaches?

Is that BP normal for you or has it changed recently?
Are the headaches a new thing too?
I would be asking the consultant about pre-eclampsia. Be prepared to have your BP monitored and urine measured and tested for protein.

No my normal blood pressure is something like 120/80.

Yes the headaches are new in the last week.

Can you even get pre-eclampsia at such an early stage?

Just to say that PE only happens after 20 weeks. However, it sounds like your BP requires treatment. Good luck with your consultant appointment tomorrow.

Hi all, consultant prescribed Labetalol for me to take as BP was 148/110 at clinic today :( Hopefully it will keep it under control though he said the dose may need to be upped as I go through my pregnancy.

That's good you've got some treatment & they'll be keeping a close eye on you.

I'm on weekly BP checks & fortnightly growth scans (currently 24+5) plus consultant care, so am being well looked-after - hope you will be too.

Good luck!

Hello again - sounds like they are keeping a close eye on you! Have they given you any medication?
I am seeing my midwife next week (16 weeks) then scan at 20 weeks then consultant at 28 weeks. Also got to fit my GP in there somewhere as well as hospital only gave me 2 weeks supply of meds. I'm also consultant care but I wonder if the midwife will want extra appts for BP checks in between? This is my 3rd so wouldn't normally have so many appts...

No, I'm not on any medication as my BP is usually low (except when I've got PE!). Today it was 98/58, so it's just a waiting game. I got PE somewhere between 22-28 weeks the last time but without any symptoms. I see the midwife/consultant alternate weeks.

Fingers crossed for you this time! Hopefully with such good monitoring they will pick anything up very quickly!
