Okay....don't laugh. Blush

Is the placenta considered mine or the babies? Confused

I know it's such a ridiculous question but I've said to a couple of people 'I have an anterior placenta' who have then said 'isn't it that the baby has an anterior placenta?'.

Needless to say I know it doesn't really matter but I'm a wee bit confused as to how to refer to it.

it is on your anterior uterine wall... baby doesn't own nothing yet :) I would say yours until it is out :)

weeblueberry · 28/01/2013 15:33

That's what I thought sundae! But a couple of people have mentioned it and I wasn't sure if I was being stupid lol.

Shared. You wouldn't have it if not for the baby. Baby wouldn't have it if not for you

Thanks Twitchy - that's made me feel a lot better. Smile. Although sorry to hear about the bloodflow problems you've had!

Interesting question - immediate reaction I would have said it was mine, but then again I also thought "my baby".

I would also have thought "my placenta" cos it's in me, not in the baby IYSWIM?

phoenixrose314 · 28/01/2013 17:59

Wow. My mind just exploded Grin

I would say yours, instinctively, as it was your body that grew it? But I guess it is a shared thing as well!

Rache1S · 28/01/2013 18:24

Who are these pedantic people who even care how you refer to it??? Grin

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss · 28/01/2013 18:59

Tell them to piss off and stop being so bloody pedantic!

Springforward · 28/01/2013 20:10

Your baby, your placenta, I would have thought?

weeblueberry · 28/01/2013 21:03

LOL Rache and Saggy I suspect it was less about being pedantic and more that they thought they were being funny. Wink. But it did make me think!!

Well in that case say "piss off smart arse!" Wink

catladycourtney1 · 28/01/2013 21:32

Yeah, I would have thought yours. If your baby is a girl, she can have her own placenta/placentas(/placentae?) in good time.

Indith · 28/01/2013 21:36

It is kind of shared but I think it belongs more to the baby, the placenta is what keeps the baby alive. When he is born it continues to work for him if we allow it to so I think of it as part of the baby really.
