Pain at 38 weeks

Hi ladies
Just looking for some advice. I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I had reduced movements on Thursday, went to hospital and baby was monitored and he was fine. Movements have been ok since. Friday evening I had an intense pain on my right side, lasting about an hour and then it went. Today I am in a lot of pain on my left side, feels like a tearing, ripping pain and it won't go away and I can barely walk! I've used my Doppler that I have at home and baby's heartbeat seems to be ok. Just wondered if anyone has any advice or similar experiences?? Thanks!!

Go back into hospital, doesn't sound like anything I have heard of before and it's better to be safe than sorry!

Hi Simba,
Please, please go and get checked out again. I worried that I would be seen as a nuisance and left it too late........
Guard you baby with your life and trust your gut instincts. You have your doppler which is confirming baby's heartbeat is ok which is good news.

However the doppler will not tell you if he is in distress.
The last thing I want is for you to panic and I am sure everything will be just fine and you will be holding him in your arms very very soon and having lots of cuddles.
All I know is your description of 'INTENSE PAIN' is something that should be checked out immediately.
As ROCKCHICK said above its better to be safe than sorry!

Sorry to be harsh, but should u be listening in on your baby? Are you a trained obsestric doctor or midwife? My experience tells u heartbeat and placenta sound similar. For your peace of mind go get checked
Out!!! My opinion says dopplers should only be used by trained professionals!
