Bleeding for over 2 weeks. Anyone else?

I'm 13+5 & I've been bleeding for 16 days now. I went to A&E after 3 days of it. Had an EPU scan at 12 weeks, then had NT scan at 12+2. Both scans were good. I was admitted for observation at 12+2 & sent home the next day. The only advice the doc gave was no exercise above walking, swimming also ok but I can't do that as I'm bleeding!

The bleeding swings between normal period levels, quite light & heavy with clots but always heavier than pantyliners can cope with! I've spoken to a friend who's an obstetrician who gave me more time & reassurance than anyone I met in hospital.

I just want to know that I'm not alone! People say to me "oh my friend/cousin/sister bled all through her pregnancy & her baby's fine." I'd like to hear first hand stories! I don't want to go to hospital again coz really there's no point unless I'm actually miscarrying. I'm very active & not exercising is hard but if that's what I have to do then of course I will rest.

Sorry for the long post- just need some reassurance.

Sorry you're going through this.

I had a huge amount of bleeding at just over 11 weeks. Heavier than any period I've ever had. Had scan and they found a mahoosive haematoma. Continued to bleed for two weeks after that but by then it was brown blood. It was still there at my 20 week scan but much smaller.

My son was born at 39+5 at home and is now a happy and healthy 6 month old.

Hope all goes well for you too x

Thanks pickle & congrats on your son. Neither scan revealed anything that would be causing the bleeding.

I kinda hoped some more people would reply along your lines!!

I think it just comes down to when you post and who happens to be on MN at the time as to how many people reply. Do a wee search and you should find loads of threads with loads of positive outcomes. My friend had constant bleeding and they didn't find a reason for it, she was in and out of hospital throughout her pregnancy. Her daughter is now 2 and blissfully unaware of all the stress she caused her parents!

Fingers crossed for a very uneventful 26 weeks for you x

I bled from 8 - 30 weeks, had 4 admissions and steroids at 29 weeks. My bleeding was just as you described.

I was scanned every fortnight til from 8 wks til delivery which was induced at 38 weeks, there was never anything obvious on the scan causing the bleeding, my consultant felt I'd had repeated, small, placental abruptions.

I had to deliver in hospital and have syntocinon for 4 hrs post delivery in case of bleeding but all was fine.

My ds is happy and healthy, he has mild cerebral palsy and whilst I think my pregnancy prob caused it his paed describes his cp as of unknown origin.

Hope that doesn't worry you, It is very isolating having a continuing problem in pregnancy, here's hoping all will settle down for you! But if not, don't worry too much there is little you can do to change anything and the best thing is to be as less stressed as poss, hard I know!

Thanks for sharing Arietty I'm trying not to stress about it, I'm not much of a worrier normally. I have my first consultant appointment next week, it'll be reassuring to sit down & talk to someone about it all.

Sorry to hear that you've had a difficult time but have to admit it has settled me slightly. I am 7 wks with DC1 and bedridden due to bleeding. It started 2 days ago and is pretty heavy. Had an early scan yesterday and MW was happy with the little bundle and its blood supply. Have to wait another week for next scan but was not overly hopeful as I had thought you couldn't bleed this much and still be pregnant???
Will just have to sit and wait. I too hate not being able to be out and about. The MS that kicked in yesterday has put any desire to exercise on the back burner now anyway.
Oh the glamour!
Keep positive! Smile

Sorry to hear that mamab The waiting must be hard for you.

It's DC1 for me too, so much unknown. My last scan was 2 weeks ago & am trying to tell myself that if something really bad had happened since then there would have been a lot more clots & pain too. I'm hoping I may convince the consultant to scan me again. I've been referred for a respiratory issue but I'm more interested in this bleeding.

Good luck x
